That's good news for Dempsey but I don't know how he could break into that squad.

    Your link doesn't work.

Who would he be competing with for time? Paauwe? Ono?

Dempsey could be seen as Ono's replacement, as Shinji wants to go to Spain in June.

Paauwe plays central defense by the way.

I hope Dempsey signs with the Dutch power in the worst way.

I said "Power" not bunch of ladies.

He's too tough for the likes of Ajax or PSV. They are too pretty, Dempsey is tough, hard-nosed from Nagadoches, Texas. Fit in well with the Feyenoord boys.

 I thought this was supposed to be a secret?

I wonder who got him the training session........

After seeing Dempsey all over the pitch with the National Team last night I think he'd make a good pairing with Bosschaart.

Sorry about that, well the link is from one of the Boston papers, it's a wrap-up of the US-Jamaica match, it mentions he's off to train with Feyenoord, not about to sign with them. Although if he impresses? What is the work permit situation in Holland like?

First, having Dempsey train with Feyenoord does NOT mean he is joining the team... he is only, as just stated, training with the team.

Second, Shinji Ono is way too good on the flank to have his spot taken away.

    Thanks,
    Marchetti

That's the best part about Dempsey, as long as it's not keeper, you can pretty much plug him in wherever you need him.

Thanks for stating the obvious. The reason I asked who he would be competing with for time is because one of the previous posters doubted that he could break into the squad. Dempsey would not be competing with anybody playing on the flank. Left wing is one of his weaker positions. His best position is either as an attacking mid or a holding mid.

I'm sure they would probably ask for something in the vicinity of 2 million. I just can't see Feyenoord paying that much for a young American player. He would have to completely knock their socks off in training.

Well, as a Revolution supporter, I'd be pissed as Hell if MLS and the Revs didn't fight to hold onto Dempsey. The supporters love the guy, and it would not sit well at all to see him up and off elsewhere so soon, especially with the big-time attendance problems in New England.

Then again, if Feyenoord were to "make an offer MLS could not refuse," I'd be amongst the first to buy a Feyenoord "Dempsey" kit.

    Always with the insults.

Former Technical Director Rob Baan was fired for his lack of vision and the ability to sign Howard and Bocanegra. New TD Mark Wotte is of a different mind set, and is just looking for talented players to make Feyenoord better.

As a league fan, I'd feel the same way. If I was Gazidis, I'd ask for the same amount PSV paid for Beasley, claiming he turned out to be a steal and that we think Dempsey has just as much potential (both half-truths). I would know all along that Feyenoord probably wouldn't pay it, but be just as satisfied (maybe more) if they said no as if they said yes.

Beasley had a lot of caps, more experience...and had more suitors over the past few years. I hope he ends up at Feyenoord, for obvious reasons.
