Riise is with his wife, who went into labor and Sidwell is injured. This is live on Foxsoccer.tv and on FSC at 5 pm ET.
Hmmm. Almost think they are better off putting in Kelly and rotate Baird to CB. Senderos is ok, but he makes some bizarre decisions.
Dembele dances around 3 defenders, Clint wide open in the box, Dembele chooses to shoot. second or third time he has done this. Once he scored, so I guess he's going to keep doing it.
Sunderland attacking down the left. Dempsey needs to get stuck in a bit more especially given that Senderos is on that side. I counted 8 sunderland players in Fulhams half. There is a counter in there somewhere.
He did. 2 on 1 with Dembele who made a nice pass to Clint which he took and then shot fairly weakly, not even forcing a save from the keeper.
Just saw this sequence again. Clint was outside the box and wasn't "wide open" until Dembele was in the act of shooting. If you were attempting to suggest that a pass was a better option than the shot in that particular situation, you are wrong. The only thing Dembele did wrong there was shoot pretty much directly into the keeper.
That was weak. Then a little more than a minute later, Clint weakly gives the ball away by letting it roll away from under his foot while he is moving the ball around in midfield. Sunderland gets the ball, goes out of touch and then looked like Danny Murphy yells towards Clint, "Hey! FFS!" Could have been to someone else but Clint seemed like the deserving target. Another minute and Clint gets subbed out in 90th minute. Great save by Schwarzer to save the point. Kind of a low energy match, imo. Even the Sunderland supporters seemed a bit subdued.
'6:10 - Demebele has 4 players converging on him. Dempsey completely wide open at top of the box. A pass to dempsey with his right foot, leaves dempsey in the box 2 meters from any defender and only the GK to beat. The only question is whether he could get hte pass off at the right angle.
4 players converging on him? I guess that's right, if you count two of them who were at least five feet from him. Dembele had an open shot that he absolutely had to take. He just took it poorly. And as you even admit, it wasn't an easy angle to get a pass to Dempsey, who was outside the box (let's not pretend like Clint has a great goal scoring record from outside the box) and wasn't wide open until Dembele was in the act of shooting as John O'Shea didn't really slide over to try to deal with Moussa until that point in time.
