dempsey with a step over, turn around pass for a cross that ends in an own goal 0-1 fulham. dempsey looks pretty damn good as a reserved striker, ACM. that soft spot above the CB's is looking like a vacation home for him.
Read that Kacaniklic who joined Fulham from Liverpool said Dembele's the most talented player on either team.
Cool. Grit > talent. And as someone above said, Dempsey looks very comfortable in the off striker role. I have long thought that is his best position by far, all of his plus points are highlighted in that role and his minus points are hidden or minimized imo.
Dempsey with a nice weighted chip that puts two Fulham players clear on goal, but they get in each others' way a bit and the keeper saves the shot.
Lovely touch by Dempsey over the defense sends Pog in alone, should have scored there. Dempsey is F'ing good.
really depends on what you are looking for. Dembele is great in tight spaces, but he has been gun shy / snake bit recently in front of goal. Would be interesting to see his assist or 2nd assist stats as well as his positive passing percentage, otherwise, the mark should go to Dempsey as being above average at everything and exceptional at positioning for goals and spearing the attack.
anyone else just a bit interested that when murphy goes off, Hangeland gets the arm band? I guess dempsey is not captain material.
you know, if the money or the situation is not right, he might stick with the whites, maybe take an 8 to 10mm bonus / yearly pay and lament his lack of CL play all the way to the bank. After taxes he leaves london with 20 to 25mm more pounds than when he arrived. A good bit of business that.
schwartzer not having a good match. not holding onto the ball. sloppy. liverpool is finding space now. fulham are slow on the attack. mostly Probs is the problem now. He is not fleet of foot and not linking up well with Clint or Katchaninkling.
From the BBC's match tracker: Former Liverpool defender Gary Gillespie on BBC Radio 5 live: "Martin Skrtel has been excellent this season, but I haven't seen him given such a difficult time as Clint Dempsey is tonight."
That is not his game. He is a fantastic talent and leads by example with his work ethic (by reports I've read), but he does not seem to be the rah rah type guy that would want the job.
Deuce has looked very comfortable and efficient passing from above the area tonight. This seems to bode well for his upcoming #10 duties for the US.
If this result holds, Fulham will pull level with Liverpool on points. If I'm not mistaken, isn't Demspey one goal away from reaching 50 league goals for the club? Or is it 50 goals in all competitions?
Dembele is hard to figure out for me. Not sure if he's all potential just waiting to break out, or if he's going to be that guy that never lives up to the labels. He has some wow moments, but it seems to me from casual observation that much of his work goes for nothing either because he makes a poor decision in the end, or he or a teammate don't execute right.
Dempsey made a great run for Riise there and he pisses it away on a bad shot. Mcmanamanamanaman saw it too.
Deuce slipped into the area, telegraphs his shot a little and the keeper makes a fine save to deny him.
oh man, deuce had the goal but too much time it was like a penalty. he is such and instinct player, give him time to think and he whiffs it. Clint was on goal, only keeper to beat from 10 yards, he pulls it right, gk goes right, easy save, good save.
we find common ground. it's like he's talking about an old dog he has to put down and we have to hear about all the times he swam the moat to win the day.
