Dempsey's got the beard back - I expect a goal or two today (has Dempsey ever scored against Timmy? I can't remember any in the past few seasons).
Wow - Drenthe with a stunner from outside the box, curling past Schwarzer into the bottom corner. 0-1 Everton in the 3rd minute.
Murphy really struggling so far. Lost the ball to Felliani twice, fouled Drenthe in dangerous areas twice.
Murphy rattles the post from 25 yards out with Howard beaten. The rebound off the post hits Howard and goes out for a corner.
Dempsey then cuts central and forces a save from Howard from the top of the box. A deflection took a bit of the sting out of the shot.
Save by Howard on a great Murphy strike, it actually went off the post and then off Howard. Then Howard makes a great save on a deflected Dempsey shot.
I'd bring on Etuhu for one of the CM's. They are losing the ball too much anyway and they could use his defensive presence.
I remember when Drenthe was the next big thing. Damn, why does this yankabroadapalooza have to be on at the same time as this other game in the EPL?
Howard reads a ball over top to Dempsey who had beaten the offside trap. Howard grabs and gets tackled by Dempsey. YANK ON YANK VIOLENCE
Zamora plays a ball to Dempsey who brings it down at the top of the box, but is nudged off by a defender. Howard cuts off another long ball intended for Dempsey.
1-0 Everton at the half. Dempsey has been very active and looked sharp. He did have one probably ill advised back pass that put Murphy under pressure and lead to a turnover. He has been lining up as Johnson's strike partner with Zamora playing just behind the two of them. Howard has done everything he has needed to just fine.
That's a bit much, isn't it? He hasn't done anything wrong, but also hasn't had to do anything spectacular.
It's one of the greatest goalkeeper performances I've ever seen... would be a bit much. He's had to make a few tough saves, the Hangeland header, Dempsey deflected shot, plus he's come out well for crosses.
remember seeing him in the Olympics and thinking: it's the dutch marvell wynne. tons of pace...well, tons of pace.
Dempsey plays a great return pass with the outside of his foot to Hangeland making a run into the box. Hangeland is stopped by a last ditch tackle from Hibbert.
JAR with an amazing balloon corner. went over zamora, dempsey, hangeland, most of west london and landed in the atlantic.
