Tottenham team: Friedel, Vertonghen, Gallas, Caulker, Walker, Dempsey, Lennon, Bale, Sandro, Defoe, Dembele. Looks like he's still prefered to Siggy, playing in the hole behind Defoe. Needs to get on the scoresheet.
apparently a certain frenchman called for a meeting with AVB after last game. Don't know how that worked out.
I like him starting Giggs and Scholes. They might have incredible resumes and accomplishments, but I will take my chances playing against them in this stage of their career vs. some of their younger talents any day of the week. Tottenham's pure athleticism- if they use it- can create a lot of troubles for Giggs and Scholes. I think Tottenham has a better lineup on paper today than Man U., but we shall see if they play up to their potential
have to disagree a bit here. They know how to manage a match and control the tempo. ManU has plenty of horses on the wings. Do the Spurs have the game managers and tempo setters? Dont know, but Fergie only starts the old war horses when he's in it to win.
Goal Vertonghen, who is an absolute beast. Great run. Clint not involved but Tottenham and Clint have both looked very sharp int he first 2 mins.
Historically, yes. But as players age- they aren't nearly as consistent. Scholes also doesn't cover the ground he used to, and this opens up opportunities for players like Dembele- if they are willing to run hard at guys like Scholes. If Tottenham plays back on their heels- then they are playing into Scholes and Man U hands. Man U will want to control the pace, not chase it. If Tottenham push Man U hard and play very aggressively, I think Scholes and Giggs will have a hard time keeping the pace and they will be rendered less effective. Tottenham can not let Scholes and Giggs dictate the tempo.
