Either that or they're so impressed with the Estonian Messi that they think he's gonna be the solid backup. Seriously though its even nuttier when you consider Arriola is listed as a MF/F and he's out for months. Is there any planning going on at any level?
Remind me why we traded Gordon Wild? Gorgeous assist for LA Gals G. Wild. 0 first team minutes at #DCU before we traded him. 0. That's what boggles the mind re #DCUnited's track record developing talent. And we could use more depth at striker. @DCUnitedKingdom @BennyBallin2010 pic.twitter.com/kwMTmHUhQX— Democracy David🌸 (@davidsheon) February 19, 2020
Perhaps United didn't see him as worthy of an international roster spot? Or he wasn't happy here? Any number of reasons why he moved on.
Apparently we tied Nashville 1-1 in Tampa. Sorga with the goal and a PK to Nashville for the equalizer. Goals in 8th and 12th minutes.
If everyone is healthy for the season opener, my guess at the #dcu starting lineup: pic.twitter.com/oTzoqo6YZ9— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) February 19, 2020
Hamid, Birnbaum, Mora, Greßel, and (hopefully) Flores are the only players on that sheet that would be lock starters on a mid-table MLS team. Maybe Canouse too but not at RB.
This is true. However, I don't share your pessimism about this starting lineup. Kamara, Felipe, Asad, and Moreno would all likely start for mid-table MLS teams (and, let's be frank, it would be a disappointment if this version of DC United winds up being worse than mid-table). The starting XI is more than adequate. The issue is going to be the lack of depth. Losing Arriola hurts, but the lack of impact options when someone else gets hurt, and when Flores and Moreno disappear for a month in the summer for Copa America, is where the real issue with 2020 DC United lies.
I was asking Sounders fans what happened to Kim Kee Hee. They liked him and not sure why he wasn't re-signed. He appears to be out of contract. He's a solid fullback, can play anywhere on the back line, 6'2 and 30 years old. Just the type of addition we need for depth.
His salary last year would have been higher than anyone on DC United's backline. Not sure I see him taking the pay cut he would probably need to to come here. Also, he's mainly a center back.
We do need a CB. Preferably a young one so we can phase out some of the older guys who are on the decline.
