There is alot of assumptions regarding the 'Israeli Occupation' of the West bank and Gaza which in many terms is declared the blue print for the palestinian state. Yes, Israel is occupying the west bank and Gaza. But many do not understand the main reason for the occupation, which was the 1967 war that took place against israel, by lebanon, jordan, syria, egypt and Iraq!!! For all who don't know, Jordan - after the 1948 War of Independence went threw there border (than Transjordan) and occupied what we call the West bank. They were very successful with it, making it a huge threat to israel, that they nationalized it (like any arab would) and the same the Egyptians did to Gaza... Unfortunetly they didn't care much, as in the last day of the 6 day war in '67, the Jordanians shelled the Al-Aksa mosque (Golden Mosque) and damadged a good chunk of it which was later repaired! Many, if they gone further would see that Israel had the jordanians and Egyptians by the legs. Only if, then, Israels General Moshe Dayan would have thought smarter in the future, he would have exepelled most of the Palestinains who lived in Gaza and West bank, but he didn't..... Thus he created the Palestinian Cause which was a core issue 3 years ago in 1964, when the PLO formed. Since the PLO was formed, even after the occupation and all not, they have proved to all the succesive israeli governments that securty was vulnerable, and even if israel, 30 years ago wanted to give WB/Gaza back to Jordan and Egypt for recognition, they would still get flogged by the underdog of all the conflict...the PLO!!!! So in that case the sense of "100% withdrawl for 100% security" came in place. But in the present time, 100% withdrawl seems unrealistic.... How is it fair, that a war was brought against Israel and Israel won+more, and they have to withdrawl to Arab Nationalistic Nonsense in order to gain peace. Israelis can;t live in West bank/Gaza but the Arabs can live in Israel? is that fair as well? Whats your call?
Red herring. Until and unless the Palestinians (a) learn to live with Israel occupying Jerusalem or (b) get tough enough to do something about it, there's not going to be any progress. Israel could give back everything else tomorrow morning, and we'd still have the infanticide. Er, intifada.
Isreal will at some point need to go back to something similar to the 1967 borders, and let Palestine become an independent nation. If they do not we should stop supporting Isreal. Palestine should not have to "get tough enough to do something about it." Isreal should realize that once Palestians are out from under Isreal's curfew-imposed poverty, and people are able to live normal lives that the majority of people in both countries will want to keep that peace. Right now the religious fanatics on both sides are driving the cycle of violence that keep them both in perpetual war.
a shame isn't it? And if Hitler had finished his job there were no more the jewish problem... Please... Is your message: ethnic cleansing is good if performed by israelis against "arabs"? I agree with Alan S. There's no other solution and it's good that you can win the peace starting from a dominant position. You're a military superpower now even the USofA didn't dare to attack you. A big wall, 2 peace keeping forces (US and EU) in the borders, US forces in contact with IDF and EU forces in contact with a palestinian light armed police. Israel (IDF) !!wall!! US forces - EU forces !!wall!! Palestine (light armed police forces). A palestinian should pass EU check, US check and IDF check to go into Israel. This at least for 10/20 years. p.s. Palestine's Population Distribution Per District In 1946 Settled population, excluding the nomadic Bedouins, by town and sub-district estimated as of 31st December, 1946. Thats what i fear the most!!!!! Remember the "Saudi Plan" It asked for a FULL SCALE WITHDRAWL to the pre-1967 borders. The question lies here is; if Israel does withdrawl to the 1967 borders and gives them 100% WB/GAZA and by looking at the issues that we have today at this time.... What happens if after the full withdrawl Israel gets attacked and civilians die? than what happens? Ofcourse, Israel will retaliate back, in any sense...but how would it be seen??? I would say that instead of dealing with it, the masters of them all, the Saudis will backstab israel, close the embassies and do whatever it can to protect the palestinians!
