I am wondering if any Man Utd defenders have scored during any competion this season?

Watching/listening to the games, it seems some of our defensive core have wasted some easy chances to score. Maybe that is what is needed, a defender who can put the ball in the net.

Ferdinand in particular has been very bad. On one occasion he put the ball over the bar from no more than a foot out. Unbelievable how he did it. It was reminiscent of the Banks save against Brazil in 1970 - ground level, a foot or so from the line, put over the bar. In Bank's case he was trying to do it, in Ferdinand's case ...............

In last night's match Silvestre had two good chances and failed to get a shot on goal.

Utd's finishing at the moment is very poor all round.

I don't remember a United defender scoring a goal this year. O'Shea has had some good shots on target, but has missed a few sitters.

The only goal scored by a defender, was credited to Blanc. It was against Olympiakos in Champion's League. I couldn't find any others at this point.

Phil Neville scored one this year, but he was probably playing midfield.

When I complain about the poor aerial peformance of Utd's attack I include the defenders. They're not quite as bad but corners are almost worthless to Utd at the moment.

I think I recall Blanc scoring, yes.

On the question of defence itself, I don't believe the Brown/Ferdinand combination has been as secure as the Brown/Silvestre was.
