the goal is to qualify. Both US and Mexico will make it this time rather easily. It would be cool to beat Mex in Mex, but this is not crucial.Winning the home game is alot more important.

I could not agree with you more. I think E.P. is on the verge of a NATS renaissance.

No one said it was crucial, but every time I hear something like this is feels like some US fans would rather forfeit the away game.

Actually it was the loss of Reyna, Mathis and Wolff at vitually the same time that caused our slump. While we have the potential depth now to overcome such a loss, especially at striker, we did not have the depth at that time. These personel losses gutted our posession ability in midfield and reduced our attack to speculative long balls to McBride and to prayers for LD's quick development. If these three players were all available during the previous mid-hex slump, we probably finish first of second. That's all woulda-coulda-shoulda at this point.
As for the next hex, I think that Mexico's league wide depth is stronger than ours but our starting 11 is better than theirs. Therefore, if both teams go all the way through the HEX with no injuries (fat chance), then I expect the USA to finish higher. If the USA gets hit with injuries to crucial players, especially creative midfielders, then Mexico will finish higher.
For USA domination, I am praying for LD's continued health and a miraculous recovery from JOB.

it is part of WC Qualifying, but it is just one game.We lost to them in last cycle, then beat them at the WC-THAT is what I care about.

if that was to happen it'd be a 5-0 slaughter at Azteca, in our favor of course.....
It would become a day firmly entrenched in the Mexican fans' terrified minds as the "Aztecatazo" or something like that :D

the 2001 hex match in azteca...usa had too many missing talents and NOT the depth to account for their absence...

1997....memory had velasquez palying for the usa...usa giong down a man early....usa successfully bunkering...and the mexican fans turning on their team....0-0....

this time, the mls guys will be in off-season, hence a mostly euro line-up is likely....I expect a very even match...with each side getting 2 or 3 good chances...and it'll be a question of finishing...

1-1 or 1-0 either way would be my prediction........I don't see anyone DOMINATING anyone..

Let me just say one thing that I hope all of you US Nattylights will keep in mind.

If Lavolpe is our coach for the match in Mexico, expect the unexpected.

Or expected, in your delusional case.

He's only sinking our ship, despite any protests by our more Uncle Tom supporters.

Proof? We have alot of it on the Mexican board if you care to read a little.

Am I opening the floodgates for an invasion? I hope not. :( :)

both usa and mexico will advance...

ultimately, the big score is winning the WC title...

until either USA or Mexico win it...the match ain't over...only bragging rights for 4 years..
