Damn you would think Deering could get a paying gig somewhere in the A-League at least. Thats crazy, doesn't this tornado team have a handful of sidekicks on the roster too? Seems like a little under the table payment must be going on to draw these guys.......

Maybe Chad doesn't want to leave the DFW area? Its not like there is a ton of money in an A leage contract. This is probably just a way for Chad to stay involved with the game while he figures out what to do after his playing days.

There may not be a "ton of money" in the A League but there is good livable money to be made, about the same as MLS for the bottom 85% of players. Salaries range from 30K to 70K with a few exceptions higher, again very similar to MLS. Deering made big money during his Euro career and early MLS but pi$$ed most of it away, it's a shame but he didn't take advantage of the opportunity to secure his future. His attitude makes it hard for anyone to feel sorry for him.

I've been trying to stay informed about "America's best team" for some time. Their web page (which has been good for a chuckle for many weeks now) is dead, so I think that might be the end of it. I think they told one too many lies.

Do you know Deering personally? How in the world would you know that he "pi$$ed" most of his money away? I'm not offended or anything but, talking about a player's finances is getting pretty personal IMHO.

I agree, who knows what he did with his money. But PDL? Ezra Henrickson signed with Charleston and as far as I know stepped right into the starting lineup for the defending A-League champs. Granted they play different positions but Deering is arguably a better player than Ezra at this point.

Just seems like a weird move to go PDL, not to mention to a team thats walking all over their opponents right now 21-0 over 3 games I think, imagine the tantrum he throws if he doesn't start for them.

They do have Sidekick players so seeing as Deering didn't last long with them this season he may have a tough time getting onto the field.

I read all the time on these boards about what player sucks, who has personal problems, who looks funny, etc. but finances are off limits, thanks for the tip. I'm not guessing about his money situation and that's all I'll say on it. I know with all the speculation on these board you find facts hard to deal with.

    Chill out a little man.

I did say it didn't offend me. Besides most of what you mentioned (sucks, problems, looks) can be determine by watching a person play or by reading practice reports. However, I don't recall every seeing anything about player finances other than when talking about a player's current contract. I never said it was off limits either.

I just think you would have to have more of a personal relationship with a player to know what their financial situation is. That is why I asked if you knew him. If you do know him that well, as you infer, you might also know why he is staying here and playing PDL.

Chad's move to DFW Tornados probably has more to do with coaching than playing. DFW Tornados is supposed to field a few youth teams in the near future. Lots of pros do this when their playing days are over.

Ezra kind of stepped in to the starting spot due to injuries to our defense as much as anything. He still a very welcome addition and will complement Mark Watson, Ivan McKinley and Michael Green well when they are all healed up

I would think staying in Texas had as much to do with Deerings decision to go to PDL just a thought.

This theory seems sound. Despite all his orneryness on the field every time I have met him away he has been a very engaging guy. He may be better as a coach than a player (at least for younger kids).

I am a referee here in the DFW area and got the chance to referee a game with Chad as one of the coaches. Seemed to be one of the calmer coaches that I have dealt with ref'ing in some of the youth club matches that I have done.

Even had a situation where I overturned a call that I made based on information from my Assistant. Chad questioned may decision, but I explained what my assistant saw to him in a very calm 10 second conversation we had. He accepted that decision and we moved on. The decision was critical to the match, but he never was animated during the situation. He earned alot of respect from me that day and I am sad to see him go.

Good luck to him in any endeavor that he undertakes.
