Everyone has been talking about how Deco is going to be one of the stars of Euro 2004. I'm a big fan of Deco and agree. However going by alot of reports he won't actually even get in the Portugal starting line up. Is this true

He plays the same position as Rui Costa. Some critics in Portugal think Deco should start (being that he is younger and had a good season). However, Scolari's first choice is Rui Costa so we'll have to wait and see how many minutes "O Magico" will play this summer.

How is he ignoring them? He picked six of them.

Ferreira and Costinha are locks to start.

And, it is not inconceivable that all six will start at some point during this tournament.

Rui Costa and Figo are world-class players! They are the two most important players on Portugal. Portugal will only go has far as these two can take them.

I hope they don't play like Hugo Viana did in the first two games of the Euro U21

Vicente Feola, the coach for Brazil in WC 58 and 62, once said, you put your best 11 in the field and they will figure out how to play by themselves. He also said that he had the easiest job on Earth, he just had to hand the shirts to the ones that would play.

But this was two generations before coaches and players would be making millions.

Rui Costa and Figo are much better than Hugo Viana.

What is your obsession with putting down Viana? Do you like kicking young players when they are down? He is 21. He has had 2 awful seasons with Newcastle and his confidence is shot. He needs a change of scenery and a coach who believes in him.

    He WILL be back.

I am not sure you know the full story there.

He has not produced since he began a slow rot on the Newcastle bench.

Because he had no other option in the bench, with Portugal losing 2x0 by mid first half, Romão started to work on the substitutes. In the second half they came in and Hugo Viana could be the Savior, but played a very uninspired game.
