McCabe will be the Revs first academy player to join the Bradenton residency program and will prepare for the 2013 U17 Youth World Cup team. Since he was on the Revs roster before entering Bradenton he will be eligible to be a homegrown signing when he leaves(though the rules may have become more lax after this past Bradenton class). http://www.bostonherald.com/blogs/s...lan-mccabe-selected-for-elite-soccer-program/
This is great for McCabe, but it does beg the question which environment is best, Bradenton or MLS academy. I'd almost like to see a non MLS Development Academy player take his Bradenton spot and leave McCabe in an already familiar, professional set up. Had Fagundez been eligible, who knows if he'd be where he's at had he gone to Bradenton and not played in the numerous U18 and reserve matches with professionals .
