http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2003/11/07/reagans_script/index.html Salon gets a hold of the script for the "censored" miniseries. Will have to watch a brief ad before you get to read the script. Bill Q.
I am not going to waste my time reading the damn thing. It is almost certainly a piece of crap. Watching a movie about reagan which was totally accurate, however, would bore me to tears. However, I think someone should make a movie about Elliot Abrams and the contras. That would be some good stuff. But since Reagan is suffering from Alzheimers, I guess CBS wouldn't run that either. I have to say here and now that Judy Davis is one of my all time favorite actresses. She has a strangly sexy lunacy about her. And if I had read that she did a good job on the Reagan show, I would watch it, because Nancy was seriously one scary and *#*#*#*#ed up sounding broad. Judy would do her justice. But don't let Reagan see this. I don't want to upset him. (Editorial in the Dallas Morning News today, defending CBS decision, becuase the show was not sensitive enough.)
Was I the only to watch it? I liked it for the love story. Being more than President Ronald Reagan was a good move because it played with the record and presented it in a rather slanted manner. I think it presented Nancy well. While it directly showed her public image, it balanced it with her delicate and loving nature for people, her (extended) family and her husband. I never really liked her but I am glad she is at his side today. Anyone else watch? I missed the Showtime roundtable.
All the trailers I saw were absolute trash... and the dialogue was pure Disney Fiction... I wish, just once, someone would just do their homework, and present a more truthful portrayal of Reagan, it would be much uglier than the fantasy that just hit the cable...
