December 1st is the deadline for all teams to trim their rosters down to XX players. Does anyone remember what the December 1 roster limits were for the past 2 seasons? Was it 16!?!?!
Last year each WUSA team's roster had to be down from 20 to 18 by December 1st, but as I recall Carolina and several other teams released more players than they had to and voluntarily brought their roster sizes down to around 16 or 17 players.
2001 Waiver Draft Info Here's some information I just dug up about last year's waiver draft: WUSA to hold waiver draft On Wednesday, DEC. 5 AT 5 P.M. ET
*busts out paint and posterboard* *thinks* *paints sign* *holds up sign and marches* WAIVE MILBURN! *chants* HEY YO LET HER GO! *stabs sign in air*
do retirements count as roster cuts if they havent been replaced yet? for example i believe NY is at 18 or less with their various roster moves and the retirement of katie tracy
well I don't know exactly why but..... I do believe she was in line on the cutting block. BUT I also think she is doing some teaching in the off season, so she may just be looking to start up her new career.
this was discussed on the courage fourm but does anyone know how much $ each team has against their cap? that could impact the cut decisions of a few teams...mainly the charge who have 3 1st round picks and the C'rays who have 3 super 16 foreigners, 3 allocated players and 2 founders
From WUSA press release: DECEMBER ROSTER CUT DOWN AND WAIVERS DRAFT: On December 1 each of the eight WUSA teams will be required to cut its roster to no more than 18 players (including three reserves) and no less than 12. A waivers draft will be held of Thursday, December 5. Any player released on the December 1 waivers deadline will be available to be picked up by another team via the December 5 waivers draft. Any player not selected in the waivers draft may re-enter the league through the tryout process.
When I was a freshman playing for the JV team, Katie was a senior (I think) playing for the varsity team of another school in our area. So I got to see her play before she got big. If she comes back to Richmond, my team would love to have her play with us. We could definitely use her help.
