Absolutly stupid move we all agree...but grow up, he doesn't deserve to die, he deserves a nice fine in addition to his red. Congratulations to the Revs, pullin' for you over the Crew. See you on ABC on October 20th.
"Stomped" would be a better word. It ranks certainly up there with Luis Hernandez or Marquez's tackle on Cobi in the WC as far as "brutal attempts to injure" goes. I'd imagine he sits for the first few games of next year.
Can anyone think of a more classless attempt to injure someone than this by an American player? I can't, offhand.
Hey, while we're at it, someone find DaMarcus Beasley and Bob Bradley some tickets for the MLS Cup Final. After all, they guaranteed us they'd be there. http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/main_story.asp?intID=3753140
If memory serves... Razov had the ball at about the top left corner of the box. Heaps was d'ing up then slid in and knocked the ball away. While Heaps was on the ground, Ante stomped him in the upper thigh area. The ball was not around Heaps when he did this.
Was anyone else hoping that Tony Frias could have made his first appearance as a Rev clobbering Razov with a boot in the 90th minute?
Cleated him right in the upper, inner left thigh. Very, very late. No pretense whatsoever of going for the ball - which was played far away at that point. Kante held Jay to keep him from going after Razov. Razov really is a poor loser - reminds me of the hair-pulling a couple of years ago.
Right up there with Eddie Pope's cheap shot of Jerzy Podbrozny after the final whistle of MLS Cup'98. TV didn't catch it, but all those in the Rose Bowl saw it. Nothing happened to Pope because he was "The Defender of American Soccer". Razov won't be so lucky. I'm sure there's other classic cheap shots I can't think of right now.
Ouch! BTW, McHead is the last of the MLS Strike Force still playing. Methinks there will be a few new faces in the picture next year.
It's a bad Nats' career move by Razov. He's a hell of a sniper, but if I were Bruce I'd shy away from players who can't control their tempers. Remember England '98?
Congrats to the Revs. You outplayed the Fire all night. Beasly had a few trashy low bridges and smashes too. WTF was the problem tonight? Thanks for taking out the trash. Looking forward to Sunday. That game should have lot's of pace...
In about the 70th minute, with the crowd quiet, Razov came over to the Fire bench for a drink, and I yelled from the 20th row of Section 110: "Hey Razov you stink." He heard me, looked up and sneered, mumbling something. I like to think that I contributed, in some small way, to his red card. He has a history of slapping, punching, and pulling the hair of defenders. A complete jerk.
Hey, there were bad fouls both ways. I'm not defending what Ante did, but let's cut the classless crap. We're not the Metroscum. Enjoy the victory, move on, beat the Crew.
Just saw the replay on TV had no idea it was that bad in person but jeeze 7 game suspension at least....
Razov has no class. Fire fans had lost most respect for him during the season and I'm sure most including me have lost all respect for him. Next year I don't want him on my team. Sorry about his attitude. Good luck to the Rev's.
You're right. Not a good move. He stepped up for the Nats in qualifying. Scored some important goals. Can be one of the best strikers in the league and potentially for the US. And then he does stupid things like this. I just don't understand what goes through his head sometimes. I can understand frustration. No athlete likes to lose. And yes, he's playing hurt. But there is no reason for a player to just stomp on someone like that. No reason.
