Right now in Dearborn, Michigan - the home of the biggest Iraqi population in the United States there are thousands of Iraqi's flying American flags and saying "I love George Bush". It's all over the local stations here.

So exactly who were the protesters speaking for? The Iraqi people? Why did the protesters feel they knew more than the Iraqi groups like

    The Iraqi National Counsil

The Commitee for the Liberation of Iraq

    Iraq Foundation for Democracy

    The Iraqi American Counsil

And the entire city of Dearborn, Michigan

    ??????

Czarists applaud fall of Soviet Union. Film at 11.

    This just in:

Miami, Fla. - The Batistia and Bacardi families and the Mafia are waiting for their turn to erupt with joy upon the liberation of Cuba. "Oh how we shall dance in the streets of Miami and waive big Amercian flags when that day comes!", said one former Batista secret policeman.

Seriously, if I was an Iraqi-American I'd just be happy that the worst of the shooting and bombing of whatever family I may have back there is probably over. That alone would make me want to dance in the street.

so Joe, the best you got is to equate the Iraqi American population with the Mafia? Even on a day of great joy for these people I am glad you have taken an opportunity to cheap shot Cuban and Iraqi exiles.

especially the ones burning the American flags.

But really, I think we all knew we'd se the day that the citizens of Iraq like the United States better than Joseph Pakovitz.

You're right Joe, you have a much better opinion about their country than they do.

And the ex-Batista Krazy Kubans in Miami, both of whom are still really pissed at Castro.

If you want to use their joy as an excuse to rip on people you disagree with, I can use it to rip on people I disagree with.

So the war hasn't swung the way you predicted, so now you've decided to take a gratutious swipe at Cuban-Americans, Iraqi-Americans, and Iraqi Exiles.

What exactly do the Cuban-Americans have to do with this anyway?

Joe please tell me where I called the protsters criminals or murderers. Thanks.

Of course, you are right though. Every Cuban exile who hates Castro is a thug and a krazy kuban.

every Iraqi exile celebrating is as bad as those same thugs.

I didn't rip on the protesters Joe, I merely asked why they felt they knew more about this situation than the people who have actually lived in Iraq, like the groups I named above.

    Thanks again, Joe.

Why do you make the assumption that protestors were trying to speak for the Iraqi people? You find a link to one protestor who claimed they were speaking for the Iraqi people, and I won't tear down your little straw man.

I wasn't. The protestors were speaking for America, in the sense of speaking for America's best and greatest interest.

Don't worry. You won't ever see the Nats play at Michigan stadium. You think other venues are cavernous?

The issue isn't whether they know more about the repressive regime in Iraq. Any numbskull can figure that out. The issue is whether they are a better voice than protesters in terms of "US" policy.

And in that, I'd give US citizens as much or more credit when it comes to voicing what US policy should be.

Keep in mind that "freeing the iraqi people" was not the main point of this war until just a bit before the bombs started flying.

Joe's point about the Cubans is exactly right. If you want to run your foreign policy on what exiles think, we'd always be at war. And that wouldn't be good policy.

I guess we should all know that the piss on Bush parade continues. No, the events in Iraq is not a cure-all for the worlds problems. But I would like to think we could at least smile and recognize that the Iraqi people sense that they are now free. Unless, of course, like some here, you really hate freedom...

Michigan mexicans don't count. Chicago mexicans get 1/2 credit.
