I hope he enjoys finishing 6th place and playing in Europa league every year. Cause there's no way Spurs are cracking top 4.
City, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal are all better... United might be a little better than them as well... They are on par with Everton imo.
This season? Sure probably -- but over the course of his career? It's not out of the question that they finish 4th.
Well clearly this means Kyle Walker is on the way out. They are going to build the team around Yedlin.
Already with hair pulling over what problems the Gold Cup might cause for him next preseason: http://www.starsandstripesfc.com/us...lin-tottenham-hotspur-transfer-sounders-usmnt
Walker is massively average, so Yedlin has a good chance of gaining a regular spot. Strange that the Spurs announcement says 15/16. You'd think they'd have him over here in January
City, Chelsea and probably Arsenal have top4 already wrapped up even before the season starts... And if United actually blow some more money and get Vidal and other top players, you figure they'll be back in the top 4... And thats counting out Liverpool as well lol.
But only after consulting this first, for sensitivity training: The Y-word: Should Tottenham fans be allowed to use it?
It's also highly probable Yedlin won't be with Spurs for, say, the next 8 years. In 3 years he could be with a team like Chelsea or he could also be playing in the lower divisions or in a totally different league. Just because he doesn't play in the CL or challenge for a title next year doesn't mean he ever will.
As it stands now, Yedlin will remain with Sounders until end of season. If his Latvian passport comes through, he's with Spurs in Jan. If not, he's loaned out (possibly back to MLS but I'd imagine Spurs would want him getting games and not preseason) while the UK permit/appeal process happens and he joins at beginning of 2015 season. And just to quell any fears: this decision was made entirely with the goal of putting him in the best situation to succeed and develop himself as a player. Roma offered more money than Spurs by quite a bit.
I dunno about DY, but I'd enjoy finishing 6th place and playing Europa League every year. Alot. Oh, and living in London. And making a "few quid." Yeah, I'd be down for that (tho truth be told I'd rather live in Rome...)
Do you really think he could be the best outside back in the world? I suppose if there was a "full back rapture" that took the rest of the fullbacks. I mean, I think DY is a good player with a lot of upside, but I would take almost any odds that he will not be the best outside back in whatever country he is in, muchless the world.
Here's the new thread, folks: http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads/ted-lassos-newest-recruit-yedlin-at-spurs.2009845/ Thanks to @Gamecock14 for the thread title. Thanks, also to @Sal for the inside scoop on Roma while those negotiations were in play. It didn't work out, but we appreciate your contributions.
