    Basically a salary dump.

I'll be in the minority here and predict advantage Dallas. De Guzman is still an exceptional midfielder, he's just a victim of Winter's tactics. His salary will go down if he resigns with MLS.

a guy plenty used to losing joins a team on a big losing streak.
    reason for skepticism?

I'm still amazed they could find a taker for his salary, and this was a salary dump plain and simple. Mariner hasn't been using JDG and has preferred Dunfield of late, and needed to clear cap space for some help at the back that's apparently on the way.
I believe he was the last MoJo signing left as well - obviously not counting academy and draftees.
