Who would you choose for opening day at Arrowhead? 3-5-2 Rimando-GK Reyes-RB Ivanov-CB Petke-LB Olsen-RWM Kovalenko-RCDM Etcheverry-CAM Nelsen-LCDM Stoitchkov-LWM Stewart-RF Eskandrian-LF Subs-Curtis, Prideaux, Alegria I put in Hristo and Alecko in for Bobbito and Q2 who will be playing in the WYC. If they weren't, they'd be in there.

Why do we have two D-mids? And do you really think Stoichkov has the legs to play on the wing for 90?
Kovalenko can push up, Nelsen can hang back. No, I'd sub Hristo around the hour mark for Curtis or Chino.
Q1 or Q2? I thought Q2 would be with the team. If so, why wouldn't he have a role? Especially over Alegria - who may not even be with the team. Or is El Salvador's U23 in the WYC?
I think I would start out with Q2 on the left (providing he is available - didn't know that both Qs were tied up) and put Stoichkov in at halfway, either for Eskandarian or for the left wing, depending on where we needed the extra boost most.
I think that looks good but I would switch Stewart and Stoichkov; better chance that both could go 90 that way.
Sounds like there is a chance the U20 tournament will be delayed/cancelled due to the chance of war. While that sucks for the US team (and others) , it gets Bobby and Tino here for the start of the season.
not a ton of size, petke and nelsen have some but the rest are pretty small. i saw this ivanov at this DCU event and he was much smaller than i had hoped and that college boy is tiny. kovalenko is stubby; stoitchkov and etchevery aren't leaving the ground again, etc. i'd hate to see a lot of corners against us.
No way! This has to be a first (and a last because I'll break out my lead pipe and beat you upside the head!) where someone actually duplicates their own thread! HAHA!
maybe he just posted on the "who has smoked pot in the last 5 minutes" thread on the Free for All forum
Yeah, but the weird thing was, is that I only hit edit, because I wanted to reword my post, and when I went back to the DCU board there were two threads.
Re: Re: DCU's Starting lineup The WYC is for U20's which Q2 is eligible for, but El Salvador did not qualify and I think IIRC he refused to play with the team during qualifying. So he will be available for the KC game. I think 10 of the starters you listed are correct but I doubt that Stoichkov will start, especially at left wing In a 3-5-2 he would have heavy defensive and offensive responsibilities. He would be required to go almost touchline to touchline and he just doesn't have the wheels to do that for 90. I could possibly see him starting up top, moving Earnie to right wing, and sliding Olsen over to the left wing. But I think the most likely scenario will have: Rimando Reyes RB Ivanov CB Petke LB Nelson DM Olsen RM Kovalenko CM Quintanilla LM Etcheverry AM Stewart F Eskandarian F
Re: Re: DCU's Starting lineup David Stokes is the college defender they drafted and if anything he is not tiny. Stokes is 6'3. I've played with Stokes, and trust me, he is going to be a force both offensively and defensively on corner kicks.
Re: Re: Re: DCU's Starting lineup i was referring to the kid from UVA, the forward, stokes wasn't in the proposed line up or subs. i have seen him and he is tall, i like that. i don't how much time he is going to get with the defenders we have in front of him.
Re: Re: DCU's Starting lineup Reyes isn't tiny and Ivanov is not a shrinking violet. You don't have to be 6'3" to be a force in the air. Superior positioning is half the battle and that seems to be what Ivanov brings to the table. On offensive set pieces, Olsen comes into play too. He is certainly not big, but he seems to slip into spaces and win balls in the air despite himself.
