Great news for us DCU fans. The first real, solid step towards an SSS.

Recent interviews with Chang (current owner) seemed to indicate the purchase wouldn't happen until the basics of a stadium deal were in place. <Fingers Crossed>

Don't you know it's cruel to give hope to those constantly crushed by the weight of past broken chances? ;)

So happy at this news--the great and long-suffering fans at DC definitely deserve some good news coming their way. No team in the league deserves a stadium more in my opinion than the 4 time champion. Also if this happens it will lift up the league as a whole.
If the stadium gets built it should be nicknamed "The Eagle's Nest";)
Hope all this works out for you guys!!:)

The Eyrie would be a better nickname.

I think I like the sound of "The Racoon's Nest" better.

Steve Goff tweeted that the announcement will most likely be Tuesday on the top floor of the W hotel in DC. :)

I listened to Stein's podcast with Steve Davis for any mention of the investor situation. They brought it up briefly, Davis didn't think it made a lot of difference to StadiumQuest, but I basically disagree with him--like I said before, Thohir & Levien might get in on DCU at less than a slam dunk, but they probably don't get in on a 50/50. I think that ever since DCU gave up on direct public financing, one of the hurdles was having investorship that could go out and make the deal privately. Davis presented the land part of the deal like it was a huge barrier, and I'm not saying it's easy, but the District government gets deals like that done for development they want to do all the time.

By the way, I assume they'll archive the show at some point here:

It was only a minute or so about half way through that they discussed it.

Is this one of those deals like Seattle where guys sit down with Garber and tell him they want to invest in MLS. Then he says "here's the best place for you".

Then they kiss his ring before leaving.
