Who: DCU and the Orlando Kittehs What: soccer night in DC Where: AUDI AF When: 4:08PM EDT on Sunday, 7/31/2022 Why: the show must go on. How: by hook or by crook Wayne Rooney takes the reins of the worst club in MLS as they hope new acquisitions breathe new life into the fading shell of a franchise. Will Morrison be the offensive catalyst DC need? Who takes it? Whose cuisine reigns supreme?
Heading to the game. Got a theory on where this is heading, and I should have that confirmed after the result tonight.
I'm curious how the team will play with Rooney on the sideline, and if Morrison AND Ochoa will start.
I can't see Ochoa starting today without at least some time practicing with the team. Remember, he hasn't played any minutes anywhere this year so I doubt we see him for a couple of weeks. Morrison surely will be minutes limited. If you start him, you now have 4 subs at your disposal because he can't go 90 under any circumstances.
While that’s certainly the logical approach, since when has this team proceeded in anything even remotely resembling a logical fashion? That said, practice this year has been to start the usual bums, then trot out the new acquisitions around the hour mark, after the game has been safely lost.
Looking forward to Taxi and Rodriguez playing together, that could be killer or really awkward. I'm hoping Morrison gets the start, and Berry up top.
Wow, Ravel Morrison is starting. DCU lineup vs. ORL: Romo; Odoi-Atsem, Hines-Ike, Birnbaum, Guediri; Hopkins, Durkin, Djeffal, Morrison; Fountas, Berry.Subs: Kempin, Alfaro, Pines, Najar, Nyeman, Skundrich, K Smith, Rodriguez, Kamara.#dcu #mls— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) July 31, 2022
I went to the pregame chalk talk with who the British guy is from the earlier STM event. I forget his name. The big take aways… They want 2 more guys this window They’re still working on a prime aged guy to some as a DP, 25-27 ys old to stick around 3-4 ys They’re looking to move on several players after the season and add 3-4 more in the winter window. Ownership is committed to spending a little more. Lol. Ravel and Pallson are big leaders in the locker room. Pallson will link the lines in addition to bing a warrior.
Checking the stats but that could be the MLS record for fastest goal scored against a new coach brought in after a season was already underway.
Does Berry not know how to stay onside? Good grief dude, you could see that Ravel wanted to pass him the ball, but saw that he was behind the line. Nice save by Romo.
