Technical difficulties on the MDL stream. I assume when we get back to live action, Clyde Simms will have scored a hat trick.
At this point, I'm paying more attention to CNN to see if Gaddafi gets strung up like Mussolini than the game.
Of course - that is the only reasonable assumption... I am relaxing right now while Clyde works his magic. Meanwhile, Perry Kitchen with a yellow card.
Davies twitter I saw the line-up and wrote this one off as a loss. Everyone should just enjoy the rest of the season thinking about what next year will be like or that this type of team should have been put together in 2009-whichever.
It is paid for in part by taxpayer funds. And is there seriously someone in the crowd with a "DC Sucks" sign. Classy.
I'm not sure I can recall DC just resorting to Route 1 ball. It might have worked but most of the time the DC player was lucky if his first touch put the ball within about 8 yards of him. That could have been much, much worse.
God, the team looks tired. Man, the announcer was a painful homer. Boy, it would be great to have some shots on goal. Uncle, no more Ngwenya. I'm out of relatives, but this has not been a very confidence-inspiring road trip.
I won't bother staying up to watch the 2nd half now. That's a good/bad thing. We had no midfeild at all. Najar played as much D as Kitchen. 1 out of 6 on the road trip....these points we keep dropping will come back and haunt us.....
There was going to be a point in the season where this team was going to hit a bad patch. I think they've stepped squarely into it. Granted, getting a draw out of Chicago was nice and all, but let's be honest, they sucked in that match and they certainly sucked tonight. As well as this team has played on the road this season, there was no expectation of keeping up the pace and these last two road matches were essentially give up games for United. Not much effort and quite frankly it didn't seem that too many players cared to be out there. That's not a good thing. It's not like this team can afford to play with such apathy. They don't have good home form to rely on. Once the road results starting regressing towards normal expectations, those home Fubars were going to be magnified. This is a dangerous time for United right now. And please, can we get Dave Johnson and Thomas Rongen to stop mentioning the games in hand United has. See, this is how games in hand work. If you don't win, they don't mean dick and you fall further behind. Seeing as this team now is on a 70-game streak of not winning back-to-back league matches (that's right, 70 games), it seems highly unlikely they can take advantage of games in hand..
And for the record, if there is a God, I do not claim to be related -- at least not more than anyone else. If I were, we'd have better beer at tailgates, I promise.
In one of the most important matches of the year, Olsen sits DeRosario and leaves Davies in street clothes (yet dresses, and plays, Ngwenya)? Olsen may be a decent coach some day, but he's no good now. By insisting on playing DeRosario at striker he's shooting himself in the foot. Either DeRo gets no touches on the ball, or he drifts back to get touches and leaves the striker position vacant. Loved Ben as a player, but he's a terrible coach.
Zusi/Espinosa > Quaranta/Simms - probably conceded that one before kick off. Sapong/Kamara > Pontius/Najar - those guys are TIRED! Those two (or at least one) needed rest in the Chicago game, they just had no legs to trouble KC and keep them a little more honest. Fullbacks flying up the field without a care. This was the story of the game to me. Brettschneider/Wolff = Bunbury - disappointing game from those guys. Simms has no extra gear, he has to be subbed out when you need a goal. I don't think he can help when you're behind. He's has to be tired also, he plays a ton. The positive thing was they kept it close when it looked like they were going to be blown away. Bad road trip, but all is not lost.
