I don’t think so, when he was young he was quiet and deferential. Now he looks washed, can’t deal with it and is acting out. Just keep him away from the US set up.
Fun tweet from Pines on his goal: Steven Goff on Twitter: "D.C. United center back/science marvel Donovan Pines sees things a bit differently than most of us. Here’s his description of the goal vs Miami last weekend (per Bruce Murray’s question) … #dcu #mls https://t.co/agTZ8O0Hws" / Twitter
Pines has a degree in engineering from the University of Maryland. He is as smart as he is a talented soccer player. Just a Renaissance Man. I respect him as a person just as a soccer player. I'm also biased since I have a degree in physics from the University of Maryland. I'm allowed to be a homer, right?
I don't think he is washed. I think he has plenty of gas left in the tank. I think that he is not a natural leader and someone else should be the captain. You want your leader to be someone who has a cool head and people respect because of their cool head. Preferably a veteran You see it on DC United with Birnbaum as captain, then Canouse, then Benteke. All veteran players with cool heads. Yedlin could probably use a change of scenery, or at least let Messi take the captain's armband. Messi seems to have a cool head on the field and is used to managing his teammates' emotions.
In Ft Lauderdale, yes. I assume it became a greater thing for him in England at some point. I wasn't a fan in Seattle, but it wasn't as bad as the past couple of seasons where it looks like he actively trying to pretend to be a tough guy. I didn't want him near the national team because he always looks like he is going to do something to be sent off.
