They have good fries at Martys.

I used to work down the street at Capitol Hill Bikes, and Martys is the one of the least snobby new business' on 8th st SE.

If you want good coffee, go to Murky Coffee at 7th and Penn. Best coffee in DC.

They do. The food is all pretty basic, but it's a decent bar set up with plenty of TVs and such as well.

If I'm not mistaken, they also have a roof deck now too, which should be perfect for a nice Saturday night.

8th Street actually has plenty of underrated places.
