Link Just a heads up that you guys are playing in this tourament on March 3-9 in San Antonio, Texas against TFC, Chivas USA, and Houston.
It's written by a SA writer who is hoping to hype the thing by naming all the big stars from 07. Should be fun, though. I'll have to see if I can swing by San An for those games.
Not a bad little tournament. The Supporter's Shield Champions, the MLS Cup Champions, and ......er, the Canadian Champions, and the uh, Home Depot Center Champions.
The second diss today for Chivusa. If I were them, I'd be offended. Werent' they the SS runner's up? Goff also overlooked this in his morning post.
My thoughts exactly. I expect to see at least you guys and us throwing out all the guns (that are available...we'll be missing 2 players to USNT Olympic Qualifiers).
As one of the promoters and co-founders of the event we are looking forward to having the Dynamo, as well as Toronto FC, DC United, and Chivas USA in San Antonio for this awesome event. This will be a week long pre season training camp with the 6 pre-season matches. This will be an annual event for Houston Dynamo, and we hope DC United will return as well. This will be a great event for the fans of all of these clubs. As far as the other events...we will have open to the public practice sessions, coaching clinics, and a celebrity charity match, which we are putting on with the help of Ethan Zohn of Grassroot Soccer / Survivor:Africa. When we get concrete confirmations of the players who will participate we will surely let you know!
I am really excited about this. Since I've returned to austin, I was afraid I wouldn't get to see United except for on the tv. Are there game times yet? If DC is playing in the evening of the 7th, I'll be coming to see them, and definitely on the 9th.

United - 8:15p Friday, March 6 - Toronto FC vs. D.C. United - 6p - Chivas USA vs. Houston Dynamo - 8:15p Sunday, March 8 - D.C. United and Ante Razov and Francisco “Panchito” Mendoza on Chivas USA. The week-long event is being organized by the non-profit San Antonio Metropolitan Youth Soccer Institute (SAMYS) in conjunction with Ziga-Zoga Sports & Entertainment, Inc. All Festival proceeds will be donated to SAMYS, the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City Independent School District’s soccer program and other national and local charities. SAMYS is the 501(c)(3) non-profit charity formed 10 years ago that developed San Antonio’s premier 42-acre soccer, 12-field complex formerly known as Pepsi Soccer, Texas. Dr. Ed Sakiewicz, SAMYS’ president, says the first Texas Pro Soccer Festival gives sponsors and soccer fans from Austin to The Valley “an incredible opportunity to see some of the best talent in the MLS every day during this truly unique event.” “SAMYS’ primary focus has always been to ‘grow the game’ of soccer in San Antonio, whether it’s facilities or helping bring exhibitions to the area, and we’re proud to be the driving force behind this Festival and working closely with officials in Cibolo, Schertz and San Antonio,” said Dr. Sakiewicz (pronounced Sa-KEV-itch). Cibolo Mayor Jennifer Hartman, City Manager Todd Barton and City Planner Nancy McBeth have worked closely with SAMYS and Ziga-Zoga to bring all of the city’s resources together to make the Festival a reality. “This is such a fabulous opportunity for soccer fans of all ages - MLS teams playing in Cibolo and practicing every day in Schertz,” said Mayor Hartman. “Everyone benefits - fans from Austin throughout the greater San Antonio area are not far away and we all can watch wonderful athletes playing the ‘beautiful game,’” Mayor Hartman said. Houston Dynamo President & General manager Oliver Luck agrees. “I know I speak for all four teams when I say how much we look forward to participating in the first Texas Pro Soccer Festival,” Luck said. “Fans from Austin to The Valley and each of the four markets can travel to see these exciting double-header games and enjoy all of the tourist destinations the area has to offer.” All Festival information and other details, such as practice times and details, will be posted daily on its website. SAMYS has created a premier soccer management team that has extensive experience in developing soccer concepts, worked with municipal and governmental authorities, served as advisors to city and county officials on the impact of soccer-related matters and developed and promoted MLS and international soccer matches. Ziga-Zoga Sports & Entertainment, Inc. is a soccer-specific media and entertainment company. Its network includes multiple interactive online and offline experiences for its clients, which consist of its growing online community portal - www.zigazoga.com - programming and special events. -30-
I'd much prefer to play in the Charleston tournament, much nicer place to spend a week ....... and actually drive-able. I've had some less than pleasant times in San Antonio at Lackland AFB .... but the River Walk isn't too awful. Otherwise, flat and brown.
Three games in five days? Great opportunity to get people hurt. Seriously, one day layoff between matches seems a bit small. I hope we use the whole roster.
Hey El Naranja, Thanks for your hospitality when some of us were in Houston last summer! You get a rep for that! Oh, good luck with your forward situation. Not too much luck- but some. ;-)
Hmmm. I was in the middle of writing this: But then I realized that I could probably find the appropriate info online; and I found this site for the "stadium". Welcome to the United States, Senor Gallardo.
Man, the porn image is not cool. Also not cool is what happens when that comes up in the browser on a work computer.
