just saw this on DCU website.....sorry if it's already been posted somewhere else. Vamos United: The Future Of Pro Soccer In D.C. Thursday, Aug 2, 2012 at 1:06 p.m. Since its inaugural season in 1996, D.C. United has won numerous trophies and built one of the most loyal fan bases in Major League Soccer. After hitting a rough patch in recent years, United has seen promising developments on and off the pitch: better results in competition, new ownership and (potentially) momentum towards a new home stadium. We talk with coach Ben Olsen and team president Kevin Payne about the future of pro soccer in the District. Guests Ben Olsen Manager, D.C. United Kevin Payne President and Chief Executive Officer, D.C. United
I don't know who that is, but someone should post a link to a stream of the interview before it happens, or to an archive afterward.
I just came over to check if this had been posted. Glad to see you guys are on it. Here's the link to the quoted page: http://thekojonnamdishow.org/shows/2012-08-02/vamos-united-future-pro-soccer-dc The "Listen to WAMU" button is on the upper right of that page. Or you can click directly on this handy link. (BTW FB, Kojo's down there on the Left End of the radio dial: 88.5 FM)
Kojo Nnamdi is a talk show host on NPR; his show is probably the most popular *local* radio talk show. He's based out of WAMU, the NPR station at American University here in DC, so many of his shows have a local focus, even though the show is syndicated nationwide on NPR stations. Already done, but you should know that you can call *and* write in to the show; they take questions by email as well as by phone. Now's your chance to ask all those questions about Dave Kasper you've been dying to have answered.
Such as, 'how does he feel about sharing an acronym and reputation for failing to deliver with Direct Kick?" That was harsh.
I'm sure an the show will be archived and available online soon so those that did not or could not listen here are some take-aways stadium Payne: "hope" is to be able to announce something with either DC or Maryland by year's end. In his ideal world be playing in the new place by 2015 big name players Olsen/Payne: They looked, no one right (very vague on this) for the team they'll look to add someone next year -related note Payne said they were very close to signing Juan Sebastion Veron. How close? Veron had put a down payment on a house here, his wife had found horse stables for their daughter's use. followed by Kyle Sheldon posting on twitter that had the ads and press conference ready. Olsen for Mayor He's not. There were other conversations about connections to the community, youth player development, you'll just have to listen. I think it went well for them and the club.
When Kojo mentioned the idea of Olsen for Mayor, Ben, after declining, should have pointed out that there have been stories about the possibility of Kojo Nnamdi for Mayor (and he might make a very good one).
