I recall reading somewhere that all 10 MLS teams will compete in the U.S. Open Cup this year. Is this true? If so, when is DC's first scheduled match?

    The question is:

Where will they play the US Open Cup games?

I will show up wherever the game is played.

    Another excuse to PARTY!

That depends on who gets out of the second round. I think it's all regional though (correct me if I'm wrong) so it'll probably be on the East Coast somewhere.

    I think you are right.

    IIRC:

The last two US Open Cup home games were played at RFK and at the Germantown, MD sports complex. They eventually got eliminated by an MLS team (away game).

The one before that was in Charleston (during the Rongen era). Needless to say DC United was eliminated (and wound up drafting Mike Burke from Charleston as a result).

My memory is not to good, so I am sure someone will correct me.

    1996 - Champions
1997 - Lost in Final to Dallas
1998 - Didn't compete because of United's invitation to the Copa Mercanorte, which was later rescinded
1999 - Lost in Charleston (Third Round)
2000 - Beat Charleston (away) and Rochester, lost at home to Miami in Quarterfinals
2001 - Beat New Jersey (Germantown), Hershey (Richmond, but we were the "home" team), Richmond (RFK), and lost to New England (away)
2002 - Not invited due to poor record

    Thanks Lanky.

You are a walking encyclopedia! ;)

ps-1997-after a 0-0 ending in overtime, the game went to penalty kicks. Dallas won on PKs.

Well, we won the Atlantic Cup last season, and while it's not a trophy that we really set our sights on, it is quite impressive to look at, and it did keep the Metros trophy cabinet empty. Now we've won the Capital Cup, equally meaningless, but also a very impressive piece of hardware. These will be nice back-pieces to the next section of our trophy cabinet. If we could win the Open Cup (heck, even getting to play a game is an advance at this point!), then we might look like we didn't totally suck. :D

So if we win the Capital Cup, the Atlantic Cup, and the Open Cup we can say we won the Treble, right?

Speaking of the Capital Cup, I stopped by DC United headquarters last week and did not see this trophy displayed.

It would be nice really nice if DC United won all those, but I would settle for a win this coming Saturday against Dallas.

Chicago is now 5 points ahead of DC United for the final playoff spot. :(

Win all four? I'm pretty sure that's what you'd call a miracle.

Actually the Metros have loads of fake trophies with the credibility of the "Capital Cup" and the "Atlantic Cup" in the substantial trophy case in their offices. By counting garbage trophies like those, you make the Metros look like they have a respectable history. Cherish those half dozen real trophies DC earned in the last century, and hope you guys stop playing like total crap before the Metros catch up.
