i am taking a group of folks. i have been to other U. for DC events and they are really great places to take clients and business contacts. even non-soccer fans usually have fun and it has even resulted in some of my clients buying tickets. i strongly encourage it. if anyone needs an endorsement to their boss or something, let me know. it is will be a great event.
I'm going with a couple of people to this! It sounds like a lot of fun and it's all for a good cause!
I will be there. It will be worth it for the special access to auction items. As of this afternoon from Catherine: Adin Brown gloves Chad Deering cleats Mathis jersey Rimando gloves and cleats Golf foursome with Nellie and one other DC player And best of all - and there is no confirmation on this: Possibly a Ben Olsen Nat jersey or a painting done by Ben Just to let everyone know - I will win these items if they are on auction (so dont even try).
the luncheon was a rousing success, very full house and i am sure it did very well for united for dc's bottom line. all the players with the exception of milton and brandon were there. ray announced that milton had torn his ACL and is done for the year. garber talked about the new stadium in texas a lot and teased bobby goldwater about how much public funding (85%) that stadium had. there had been some mention of a "sneak preview" of the starting 11 for KC but that didn't happen. ray gave a rather subdued speech (for him) he said he wasn't feeling well and quite frankly he looked ill. hristo and garber got together privately, with k. payne, but i was too polite to slide over and evesdrop.
United issued a press release today stating the Luncheon raised over $20,000 for United for DC's good work. Pretty tidy little amount and a great ending to a good event. This is quite a success for U for DC. http://www.dcunited.com/index.cfm?section=main&cont_id=175707
