http://www.mlsnet.com//news/mls_news.jsp?ymd=20080128&content_id=136847&vkey=pr_mls&fext=.jsp DC just grabbed a player from River Plate. No doubt GBS knows him well. Could this fuel the fire that's been burning dimmer every season between CLB and DC? I know I cap on MLS for chasing the hispanic fans but this may get some more Boca Juniors/River Plate fans to the CLB/DC games. Let us renew our hatred.
Careful what you say, he'll neg rep you like he did me for calling him that. Evidently he doesn't take kindly to his moniker.
I knew one but she moved back to Argentina last year. She estimated Columbus' Argentinean population at "a hundred or so." That's not exactly scientific, but it's safe to safe there aren't many Argies in the 'Bus.
Well, let's see if this works: Jersey Whore... Jersey Whore... Jersey Whore... Jersey Whore Jersey Whore... Jersey Whore... Jersey Whore... Jersey Whore Jersey Whore... Jersey Whore... Jersey Whore... Jersey Whore Jersey Whore... Jersey Whore... Jersey Whore... Jersey Whore Jersey Whore... Jersey Whore... Jersey Whore... Jersey Whore Jersey Whore... Jersey Whore... Jersey Whore... Jersey Whore
I'm sure it's a...er, modest number. But I suspect there are more than 100 Argentines at OSU alone, among faculty, their families, and students. Then, of course, there's http://tango.osu.edu/. But, no, I'd say DC's DP doesn't matter much as far as Crew attendance is concerned.
It's not just the Argentinians, but the River Plate/Boca Jr. fans. I know there has to be a handful of those from other counties (US included) that would like to see the two go head-to-head again. I'm not saying it'll be thousands. I'm just saying that if we run a simple regression we'll find a positive significant effect of DC coming to town with their DP on the roster. Actually....I'll just run it after they've come a couple times this year and report back late in the season. Also, this is the second time I've heard of the Jersey Whore. Who is it?
People use that term to refer to Nick, who sits in row 1 seat 1 of 134, right by the tunnel. He always gets jerseys. He's actually not that bad of a guy... but I'll be over in 101 most of the time this season, so I won't see all my old peeps in 134 every game anymore. I'm sure I'll stop over to see GeneralDisarray and ElectricKeeper from time to time.
DC clearly having the best offseason, what, 5 new players, a DP (Gallarado), and help on virtually every line. Plus, they still hold Gomez's rights, and could get something out of that as well. For my money, the East is nearly done, at least as far as the regular season.
The last time I checked actually playing the matches is still required. But, if you like, perhaps you can suggest to the league that we just skip the regular season and go straight to the playoffs. Save the rest of us a summer af angst.
what? no schadenfreude in Columbus? just straight to sitting out an entire year w/ no regular season and no playoffs?
I think the point was that we would get to be in the playoffs if we skipped the regular season! With a little Majic, it looks like we will be a force this season, at least up top.
You know, I think DC fans would like the chance to trumpet how many supporters shields they've won instead of trying to figure out where it all goes wrong in the playoffs. It's so much easier to make fun of people when you're on the bottom.
