I wonder what kind of team will Hotspur field. Aren't they supposed to have an EPL match two days later?

Great! If we beat them, we can brag about how good MLS is. If we lose, we can say that we are out of season.

Great! If we win we can't brag about anything. If we lose, we'll never live it down.

shown live in America at 2:30 ET on Fox Sports World (
    http://www.enn0.com/i.cfm?DID=224386&UID=47178577&MID=264012 ). An audio

    Re: audio available as well

Thanks! Audio it is, no more FSW for me :(.

Yes, DC United pretty much has to go out and pummel this Tottenham side, and look like they're having fun doing it, or we'll never hear the end of it. Tottenham are suiting up Terry Venables, for chrissakes.

Why is the world did DC United agree to these terms (current pros playing retired pros, etc.)?

It would be fine if MLS/DC United were some established league/team...but MLS knows it has an image "challenge" in Europe....(Bishop's comments one reference)...and this game, if it doesn't go "right" could be embarrasing indeed.

I'm all for charity matches, but DC United should have ensured it was Tottenham's real team playing or said "no thanks". Don't see the benefit vs. risk of this one..

Actually Summers Restaurant in Arlington, VA (right next door to the Courthouse stop on the Orange line of the DC Metro) will be showing the game live on Thursday (2:30pm EST) and a taped replay on Thursday night (7:00pm EST), and can, if requested, play the Fox Sports World re-airing on Friday as well. There is more complete info on the DC United board.

I'll likely be at Summers at 7pm on Thursday to watch it.

    DC United WINS AT Tottenham!!!!

Granted it was a friendly, and granted some old timers like Klinnsman and Gascoigne played a half or so. But many current Tottenham 1st teamers also played, and DC United went in there and stunned them 1-0.

All of the EPL players interviewed said they came away very impressed with the American side, most adding, "they're getting better every year."

Congrats to DC.....ANY win AT Tottenham is a great thing to put on the resume....

I think chayes is referring to not putting an (R) in the heading and giving away the result.

It's a good thing to know about the result in the title thing...even I didn't know about that. But anyway, congrats to DC! I'm sure Tottenham put up a great fight! This definatly ends their season on a more up-beat note!

The game was 1-0 but DC could have...even should have had 4 or 5. Not even close.

Keller with a couple good saves though.

You'll notice that people are really up tight about the whole result in thread title thing. To me it's just common sense, that if you don't want to know the score of a game then don't go to a soccer website. It's obvious, but people still get really bent out of shape about it. A few people on here need to pull that stick out of their ass.

I won't see the match until the FSW replay tomorrow night. very glad the red-n-black got it done! makes my day!

you mean keller in goal for 'spurs, right? was rimando in goal for united?

friendly or not, it's still good news for the american game. it still reminds so much of formula one: one day an american team will compete with the best in the world and win.
