Game is today - 4:00 PM Eastern kickoff - 1PM at my desk. Streaming - http://www.rowdiessoccer.com/youtube Lineups, etc. to be updated later.
I don't think TB will stream it, that link is to the match, last week. Here's one from Philthy: Philadelphia Union @PhilaUnion 16h16 hours ago Tomorrow's preseason match vs. @dcunited will be live-streamed on http://philadelphiaunion.com/live at 4 p.m. I guess it's too much, and too expensive, to ask for United to be able to do a live stream.
The TB youtube channel will be streaming the game (And Saturday's) as well. The link probably won't be available until the broadcast begins though. If TB is willing to provide a decent & free stream, I don't see any reason for United to host one as well.
Both the Philly and United links are just links to the TB youtube channel video - I'll be watching on the original host. FYI, if you're near the Corcoran Brewery in Purcellville, I'll be streaming it there, it's much more fun than Morrisey's desk. I assume, anyway ..... I don't know where he works - and this is what I'll always tell the FBI if they ask.
This game will tell us if Rolfe is going to start in Mexico. If he doesn't start tonight, he won't on Tuesday, either. Goff reported this would be a trial run for the starters on Tuesday. I really want to see Halsti and Sarvas look the part, and even more of Acosta/Espi working together. Dykstra, Boswell, Birnbaum, Franklin - these guys need to look sharp. I'll be interested to see if DeLeon starts wide left if Rolfe can't go. I suspect he will start there, but hoping for the best with Rolfe.
I think I'd rather see Neagle or Aguilar on the left and DeLeon in the middle if that's going to be his future position. We have a glut of wide mids but a shortage of two-way central mids. If NDL can develop into one DC will be in much better shape.
This prep for the CCL match, though. Neagle is cup tied. So if Rolfe can't go, that leaves Aguilar or DeLeon (or someone I'm not thinking of - Vincent, Acosta, I dunno). I don't think there's any chance Aguilar gets the start in Mexico over DeLeon, unless DeLeon is playing in the middle over Sarvas and Halsti (could happen, don't see it).
Looking forward to seeing Pontius play today. Philly lost to the Fire 4-2 in their last preseason game, Yaro starting slowly. Tranquilo Barnetta is a tricky player and will give United's midfield all sorts of problems, a la Higuain.
You're quite correct. My remark re: streaming wasn't about this particular match, but that DC doesn't stream games in any shape, form, or fashion. I think the one time they tried (a few years ago?) it would have turned out better had they used an intern to send it from an iPhone. Edit: When I looked earlier, there was no link to this match on either TB's or DC's website. That's when I found a link to it on the Philthy, not TB's, site.
This just in: http://www.dcunited.com/post/2016/02/16/dc-united-acquire-rob-vincent-pittsburgh-riverhounds
I guessed correctly with the lineup, I guess Rolfe isn't ready. That sucks. Fabi, Acosta DeLeon, Halsti, Sarvas, Nyarko Kemp, Birnbaum, Boswell, Franklin Dykstra
Has anyone heard if Opare is injured? I don't recall seeing him on any of the pre-season rosters so far.
Starting XI: Blake; Fabinho, Tribbett, Marquez, Rosenberry; Nogueira, Alberg; Pontius, Barnetta, Le Toux; Sapong
It's a completely orthodox flat 4-4-2. Grab your ankles and get ready for a continuation of the end of last season.
