Matthew Foerster, sounds like a new ref to me. And it is his first game. D.C. UNITED vs COLORADO RAPIDS RFK MEMORIAL STADIUM, Washington, D.C. Hmm. Perry Kitchen and Chris Pontius aren't mentioned as being "Out" or "Doubtful." I wonder what's up with that? Bad edit job from MLS, or was that from the team?
That's last week's injury report and hasn't been updated since Houston. New injury report should be out later today. I think we'll see a mostly DC United B team. -----------------------------HAMID RUSSELL------JAKOVIC--------MCDONALD------------WOOLARD -----------------------------KING CRUZ--------------------------------------------------------NAJAR -----------------------------BOSKOVIC ---------------------SALIHI--------WOLFF I don't know how I feel about this, but there you have it. If the game isn't won by 60 - 75 minutes in, there is the prospect of late Santos and De Ro subs. Gotta feel good about that.
I often feel as if it's the referee's first game Pablo, this isn't sex with your ugly girlfriend, this is soccer - come up with a better excuse to skip it Feel that heavy air, cRapids? That's sea-level air, bitches. Suck it, suck it hard. Doesn't that feel heavy in your lungs? Make you want to sit down for a bit and enjoy some overpriced $8 popcorn?
Spot on again. Casey is back but hopefully not ready for 90. If Hamid is in goal, this could be interesting.
Pablo's concussion issues are to the point that he'll be lucky if he plays again this season and he'll probably retire at the end of the season. Think Taylor Twellman (or Troy Aikman to change sports). Casey is not expected to start, and Wynne and Cummings are out with injuries.
Which I'd guess, if really hungry, like got a serious case of the munchies hungry - is about half a bucket, until the staleness really started to get to you and hurt your teeth and jaws But to be fair, I've never thought to try RFK's popcorn, it could be the best stuff evar.
Perry Kitchen no significant knee injury, joined team at practice. Huge relief for #dcu. Chris Pontius here too. Great to hear! Alright then. Time for a better lineup. Really hope to see Dejan back in the middle. So happy to hear Perry is back at practice. I'd be good with Santos and Salihi up front. The big question is who will start at AMid?
thats great news about kitchen and pontius. i'll be at the game tomorrow as well. dangermouse, how about letting me bum a ride with you to the game since we work a block from each other? if not, i'll metro over there and give you crap about not taking me
Or Alecko Eskandarian, Josh Gros, Bryan Namoff and Devon McTavish. No need to explain it -- we've been there a *lot*.
From the stadium, go north on South Capitol Street (towards the Capitol) until you reach M Street SE. Take a right. Continue on M Street SE in an easterly direction. When you get to 9th Street SE, take a left (heading north). You'll go about 2 1/2 blocks, and you'll reach a traffic circle (well, a triangle, really); bear right onto the expressway ramp. That ramp will go underneath the 295 lanes that go to the 11th Street Bridge, and connects to the 695 lanes going to Pennsylvania Avenue and to Lot 8. Once on, keep left and you'll end up on the L0t 8 access road. That's the easiest way to do it; but I don't know for certain if the enormous construction project associated with the 11th Street Bridge rebuild might have messed this up (causing them to close that ramp). If it has -- if you get there and the ramp is closed, go around the triangle and go back out 9th Street SE southbound, 2 1/2 blocks back the way you came, to M Street SE. Take a left, so you're heading east on M. Go to 11th Street SE and hang a left (northbound). Continue northbound on 11th Street SE for about 10 blocks until you get to Independence Avenue SE. Hang a right and drive 10 blocks or so to RFK Stadium; the Lot 8 entrance will be on your right.
Actually, the second one is almost as simple as one can possibly imagine: go east on M, go north on 11th, go east on Independence, and you're there. If one can't follow those directions, one has no business behind the wheel of a car, except maybe in Nebraska or Kansas or someplace else where the roads go straight without intersections for hours. The first one was a little weird; but that's what happens with shortcuts. So in short, phbbbbt.
Bootsy's posts are invariable accurate and precise and I'm sure these directions are excellent, and if followed, will get you where you want to go. And if you can do that you're a better driver than I. I'll be the first to admit I'm directionally challenged. I can do up-down and left-right, but the whole north-south-east-west is a problem for me. And diagonals? Diagonal to what? I've managed to get lost 3 times driving in DC, twice at night comming back from games at RFK. And believe me you don't want to get lost in DC at night. I also managed to get lost going from Fed Ex to my hotel in Maryland. That's the night I discovered there's both an inner and outer beltway. My suggestion: take the Metro. RFK is on the orange and blue lines (Stadium-Armory stop) and Nationals Stadium is on the green line (Navy Yard stop, I believe). Go to the DC Metro website for all the info you'll need. asitis
I agree. But not everyone is as directionally fluent. It took me a few times getting turned around when I was younger to realize that 9th st SE didn't mean the street went SE. But this seems like a good time to throw my wife under the bus with the M Street story. We were driving down to a Cherry Blossom tournament one year and she overheard us saying we were looking for M street, and every couple minutes she would pipe up and say, there's M street, we just passed M street, it was back there, you guys are going in circles-- and that's when we realized she was looking at the MMMMMMetro signs. Man, that never gets old. Actually I was just at the end of 695 a couple weekends ago and I believe I still saw a sign on the left that said RFK, but I don't recall seeing if the lane was actually open-- but there was lots of construction about. ...And there's only one beltway. It has inner and outer loops.
