DC United 4 - CD Aguila 0. DC United 2002 rookie Eliseo Quintanilla came from Aguila, so he had a chance to play against his former team, and he did very well. Former DC United great Raul Diaz Arce played for Aguila and did ok, but didn't score. Convey played central attacking midfielder and dominated the first 10 minutes of the game until he scored the opening goal. After that United played significantly more defensively and Convey often covered back for defense. Scoring was: DC United - Convey 10' DC United - Moreno 62' DC United - Moreno 63' (yep, 2 goals a minute apart) DC United - Lassiter ~83' (not sure of the exact time of Rocket Roy's excellent chip over the onrusing keeper) Well DC United finished the MLS season strong, then went to White Hart Lane in London and beat the Tottenham Hotspurs XI (former greats like Klinnsman, Ginola, Gazza; current stars like Sherringham, Poyet, Keller; star reserves like Blondel and Marny). Now it adds CD Aguila to it's belt. I just hope this form continues into the 2003 MLS season. -Tron
Let's hope it does for the United fans among us. Did Justin Mapp register any playing time during these friendlies?
I went to the game. Saw about 7-8 fights, not very many for a game with salvadoreans. DC needs a change in personal in the marketing department, BIG TIME; they seem to not mind the salvadoreans fighting, pissing, and grabbing the ass of females of DC United faithfuls. I wished Kasper and other United executives could see what us DC FANS have to go through in the stands.
its a shame to read salvadorans act like that, mostly that they're representing as a nation, unfortunately its sad but true, pls dont think all of us behave like animals. BTW last champ was CD FAS not Aguila
Played the first 38 minutes last night. Might have picked up a slight knock which is why Chino came in as an early sub for him. Had his way with the Aguila (and also El Salvadoran NT apparantly) Right Back for the half hour+ he was in there.
We don't believe that all of you act like that, but it's a sad testament to your countrymen that many of them at RFK do. Unfortunately, that's the only exposure most of us have to Salvadorans, so it's the only impression we get. There are reasons for Salvadorans to hate DC United, and they have the freedom to do so. The objections lie in the behavior of a fairly sizable minorty of fans. Sachin
Att: 17,562 (25% Salvadorean American, 70% Salvdorean mostly and 5% non-Salvadorean/hispanic, according to Gerriati Dailit paper)
What's the difference between Salvadoran-American and Salvadoran? I'm asking to see how the community sees themselves. One thing I did not notice was a lot of families, which is kind of sad. There were very few women in attendance. I'd say the split for 85 percent Aguila fans 15 percent DC fans. Sachin
OK, thanks, sorry. I know that Aguila was the 200 Champion and when I posted that somewhere else I was informed that they were this past season's champion, I guess I was misinformed, heh. -Tron
