Anyone in Richmond up for a party or know of a bar showing the match PM me or post it here.. I wish i lived closer to dc i miss going to Summers etc... But richmond is here and there has to be one place with the match besides my tv....
greatscott, I don't live in Richmond but it's closer to me than Summer's. Let me know if you find of any good places to watch soccer in Richmond.
RICHMOND PEOPLE Call Banditos Burrito Lounge http://www.cvsasoccer.org/ads/banditos/ I know they have a few tvs and they are a hangout for the Richmond Kickers and their fans. The SEs went here for dinner before a United-Kickers game and watched some portion of an MLS game there while we ate. Maybe you could get a more organized group there with a little notice. K
http://billofare.com/pennylanepub/main.htm we went here for the US v. Canada on 01/18 and it was VERY soccer-friendly. When I called up to ask if they were carrying that match, the thickly-accented reply was " It's football, isn't it?" Great time.
Re: Re: DC United US-Argie viewing party The closest is Farragut West (just walk down towards the Old Executive Office bldg, I believe G St is 1 past Pennsylvania Ave). But if you're on the Red Line just get off at Farragut N and walk down. K
Richmonders-- Penny Lane pub IS NOT showing USA vs. Argentina... the man who answered the phone responded with a "nope, we are going to be focusing on the European Cups..." sorry mates.. ill search around...
Piccola Italy 1100 W. Main Street Richmond, VA 23220 (804) 355-3111 someone give this place a call.. see if they are showing the match...
isn't the match on ESPN2? i'd think most sports bars anywhere would get you the game on one tv if you were buying pints.
One would think... i guess they want everyone watching that bloody FA Cup.... anyway the games is at noon, how many matches are on then.. most FA cup matches start at 1 here... anyway.. Penny Lane pub said that he did know but didnt think so... ill check later in the week... someone should still call Piccolo.. if i had a phone i would but nada.. im in the theater in our school during the talent night and im not supposed to be on here anyway... adios...
hmmmmmm, me and a few buds were gonna meet for the game at my crib (pun intended) but maybe a trip to kilroy's would be cool.
It is actually a regular league weekend in England, not FA Cup. That means PPV at 10am and FSW tape delayed game at Noon. You could ask them nicely to get one of the TVs turned over to the US vs. Argentina. I know the soccer bars here in DC (Lucky Bar, Cap Lounge, Summers) are going to be showing both...
At the last DCU Happy Hour at the Exchange, I think I remember hearing that the place didn't usually open on the weekends, but that they were hoping to cultivate a weekend clientele, possibly based on showing sporting events? Are they opening up on Saturday afternoon specifically to show the USA soccer match? If so, I think that's a pretty cool gesture on their part. Almost like a private party for the fans. Hopefully there will be a good crowd so it's worth their while to continue doing this.
I'll be at Summers for the Liverpool game but I think I'll drop over to this. The Exhange is a lunch place a block from the White House. It doesn't do much evening business and I can't imagine much weekend business either. Two large rooms so it mightn't be bad for soccer. I work only a few blocks away so another soccer bar here would be welcome.
The owners of the Exchange are willing to accomodate us for any viewing party we want to have there. Normally the Exchange is closed on the weekends. They recently invested in installing tv's to attract sporting event viewers. While they were originally only thinking of football, basketball and baseball, they were supprised at the demand for soccer. Our happy hour there showed them there are fans that will show up in numbers to make it worth their while to air soccer matches. DCU sponsoring this viewing party is only a starting point hopefully leading to post match get togethers, meet the coach (Hint, Hint to United), and a host of other events catering to us, the fans of the greatest game in the world. Special thanks to K for helping to get this set up.
Piccollas manager said they would be showing the game. The place is kinda small but they have great food. Also does anyone remember the name of the pub that opened their doors for all the us world cup matches? I'm sure they'd be showing as well.
I will call tomorrow and find out about the min/cover thing. I doubt there will be either but will confirm as soon as I find out.
