Re: 2007: Best DCU team Ever?

DC has finished their road schedule, so the results are in. With 12 road goals allowed in 15 games, DC has the best road defense ever, assuming I did all the calculations right when I posted in this thread. This is true in absolute terms and when adjusted for league goal scoring. Here's the updated chart, though of course the league numbers are not yet final:

    Code:
Year	Lg Avg	Best	Team	% Lg Avg
    2007	1.61	0.8	DC	49.69%
    2000	1.83	0.94	KC	51.37%
    2001	1.88	1.17	MIA	62.23%
    2005	1.47	0.94	DC	63.95%
    1998	2.04	1.38	DC	67.65%
    2006	1.41	1	DC	70.92%
    2002	1.76	1.36	CHI	77.27%
    2004	1.2	0.93	CLB	77.50%
    1996	2.01	1.56	NY	77.61%
    1999	1.46	1.18	LA	80.82%
    1997	1.89	1.56	DAL	82.54%
    2003	1.27	1.07	SJ	84.25%

    Notes:
    - The record could be tied as early as this season. Houston has 12 goals allowed in 13 road games, so if they get shutouts in their last two they would equal DC's achievement.
    - DC is the only team other than Houston (+8) to have a positive road goal differential (+7)
    - With two games left, DC has the second worst home defense (19 goals allowed, 1.46 per game), trailing the Galaxy (23 goals allowed, 1.77 per game)
    - But they still have the best home offense (35 goals scored, 2.69 per game...that's actually .01 higher than the average goals scored by both teams in MLS games this year).
    - DC's 1.11 goals allowed per game is good for 3rd in the league, while its offense is still best in the league at 1.93 goals per game
