I think we should have a team DC United-Mexico to play in the Mexican Futbol League. They should play in a Mexican city without a current team, or maybe in Mexico City which has a decent population of Americans. The team should also field as much Americans as the rules allow (or could be bent).

    What do you guys think?

I think that your ham-handed, facetious swipe at Chivas is just further proof that you really don't have the slightest idea what you're talking about. Thanks for asking.

Well, here's why that wouldn't work very well:

    1) DC United does not have a large fan base even in its home country. Sorry DC fans, but in the large scope of the sports world, DC United has less supporters than the average decent College Basketball team (which is also true of almost every MLS team). Therefore there is no brand recognition that would give it leverage.

    2) DC United does not make any frickin' money. None. Big pool of red ink, just like every other MLS team except the Galaxy. Therefore, despite AEG's mad wealth, DC United is in no position to bring any financial stability. AEG could, but why have it relate to DC? No reason.

    3) Community of those with close ties to Guadalajara (just as an example) in Southern California? Probably somewhere at LEAST in the six-digit range.

Community of those with cloes ties to DC in parts of Mexico unrepresented by a soccer team? Somwhere at MOST in the teens.

Care to continue with this topic, Ace?

Quite possibly the most worthless post ever.

How 'bout Crew - Mexico? Because the Crew are a massive club!

I was hoping there'd be a DC United-Canada, ideally in Ottawa or perhaps Toronto, before we expanded south of the border. ;)

What an interesting response coming from a guy with over 12,000 posts on Internet message boards... very very interesting..

Anyways, a couple of the other comments are quite interesting as well (and you know who you are). Ahhh.. hypocrisy is always quite inevitable when the spec is caught in your own eye. ;)

I'm assuming that what we've got here is a bit of mangled Biblical verse mixed with Ace's own, unique philosophy.

Still, I don't have any ****ing idea what it means:

Yeah. This post reads like I'd imagine seeing a pitcher do an intense wind-up and delivery, only to have the ball slip out of his hands and fly straight up - bouncing on his head on the way down.

Can't do that. It would be like a couple thousand Americans crusing down the main street of Mexico City on the 4th of JUly with a bunch of American flags attached to our cars singing the Star Spangled Banner.

    way to miss the point

  16. Dc United probably won't work, but people at Acapalco, Tijuana and others cities would apreciate a first division team.

I'd rather see the Yankees enter a team into the Mexican baseball league full of Americans. Two Yankee teams to hate, all the better.
