MARYLANDERS - Tired of your old boring Maryland tag? Want to show your support for DC with something other than stickers? Well, here is your chance.

As some of you might know, I have been working with the MVA to figure out how to get organizational tags for D.C. United. After many months of pulling teeth, we finally got all the answers we wanted and are ready to start taking application with DCU's approval to obtain the plates. We need to get 25 reservations. As a non-profit organization, the Screaming Eagles are filing the reservations to get the plates put into production.

    Here are the details:

    1) The cost is $25
    2) Your registration would not be impacted - when you receive the new plates you will also get stickers that correspond to what is currently on your plate
    3) Attached below is also a mock-up that we are proposing to the MVA. We have DCU's permission to use the trademarked logo so it should be approved as is.
    4) Not that I feel the need to explain this but before someone asks - the bottom tagline of www.screaming-eagles.com is on there for two reasons. 1) It will direct people to the website if they see the tag to know how to order the tag (all tags need to be approved by the offering organization) 2) the SEs are leading this effort so they deserve recognition for that effort

Now - here is the fun and exciting part - we are able to prioritize the order of distribution on the first 50 tags that are issued. After discussing this with SE leadership, here is the process we will use to assign tag numbers.

Priority for choice of tag number will go as follows:
    1) Screaming Eagle member (and feel free to sign up as part of this and you will be included in this group)
    2) # of Tags ordered
    3) Timing of receipt of request

Essentially, whoever is on top that list will receive first choice for ONE tag. We will then move to the second person on that list and so on and so on until we reach the point that no one cares what tag number they receive.

So - want to get in on this - here is what you do.

    E-mail: Screamingeagletags@gmail.com

I need the following information from you for each tag you intend to order to place you on the list:
    Name
    Present License Plate #

I will confirm receipt of your e-mail and as soon as we hit 50 I will start the process of assigning numbers.

I will also use this thread as a count to let people know how many tags have been reserved.

And now - the masterpiece (everyone be sure to give Lowecifer some rep for his fine work):

Re: DC United Maryland License Plates

I want to make this clear since I have gotten some questions on this

you do NOT have to be a screaming eagle to get this tag - however, SEs will get priority on tag # selection

We are up to 7 and counting - when you send your e-mail I would appreciate it if you also include whether you are an Eagle or not. it will assist me in the prioritization process.

    Thanks

Count me as another jealous Virginian here! Perhaps we'll get another chance to meet our DMV "quota" for a DCU plate in VA.

Way to go folks! It looks great!

Re: DC United Maryland License Plates

I can only hope the "approval" process does not take as long as the process to get all my questions answered.

We are half way to the minimum requirement of 25 - keep 'em coming people. The sooner we get to 50 the sooner this gets turned into the MVA.

    Query-

Do you mean that the first 50 numbers 0001-0050 are available for getting? Or that you can choose any number between 0000 and 9999 as part of the first 50 numbers.

    Thx,

    Jay!

Re: DC United Maryland License Plates

When we submit the list we will submit the first 50 applications and can order them how we please. So - we can assign #s 1-50 and then after that is it first come first serve.

BTW - I just got #15 so we are 60% of the way to the minimum already in less than five hours!

In for one of our three cars.

I copied my response to my wife at home in hopes she'll add in our van license number. I can't remember it.

    Thank you!

Gotcha. So you can't really angle for some key years (birth years, championship years) by getting in as one of the first 50.

Can you get letters/vanity in the space?

    Thx,

    Jay!

It's like getting a first team number instead of a squad number. I have a number (and two backups) picked out if I'm lucky enough to be in the first 25.

Re: DC United Maryland License Plates

Nope - the MVA produces them in batches and just prints one number after another. From what I understand, most plates are produced in batches of 100 with new runs planned when inventory gets low. When the MVA gets notification from the Screaming Eagles, they go to the shelf and take the next plate in line. That is why we can prioritize 0001-0050 but after that it is luck of the draw.

BTW - folks are we at 21 and counting (make that 22) so we are already fast approaching the minimum order size of 25. I am hoping we can get 50 before the end of this week so we can assign numbers and get this puppy into production.

Here's a hypothetical question. Person with plate 0001 parks car on Rt. 1 near Ft. Meade. Tank crushes parked car (luckily nobody is hurt). When the holder of plate 0001 replaces crushed car, can he transfer the same plate to the new car?
