Rimando 7 - Despite the goal quite an effort by our keeper.
    Prideaux 5.5
    Boswell 6
Wilson 7 - I really think this guy is stepping up to the plate, liked some of his runs.
Kovalenko 5.5 - Where was the Demanator last night. Some flashed of brilliance but otherwise he was lackluster.
    Simms 6
Carroll 4 - BC just wasn't there, I'm getting worried about the guy.
Gomez 5 - Just looked slow and a bit tired/injured.
Gros 6.5 - Solid effort as always, we need to get this guy shooting.
Adu 6.5 - SHOOT THE BALL
    Walker 5.5

Kuffour 6.5 - Anyone seeing the Ghanan Duo as a future powerhouse?
    Nickell N/A
    Stokes N/A

Rimando - 7 Great save on Jewsbury, didn't have a chance on the goal.
    Prideaux - 6
    Boswell - 6
Wilson - 5 Nice runs, but was caught out of position several times
Kovalenko - 3 One nice glancing header, otherwise invisible. Does this guy have a yellow card in the run of play all year? Prozac?
Simms - 5 Didn't look like USMNT material last night
Carroll - 1 Ugh, gets an assist on the Victorine goal
Gomez - 5.5 He was clearly hurt at the end of the first half, slowed considerably in the second, but figured out how to get his head on the ball on Adu's corner in the 85th minute and put it on frame.
Gros - 5 Mr. Gros, please report to Mr. Guppy for remedial crossing lessons
Adu - 6 One of his better efforts
    Walker - 1 Nana now!

Kuffour - 5.5 At least he looks like he is trying and has the melons to shoot within the 18
    Nickell - NR
    Stokes - NR

Rimando 7- good saves, no chance on the goal.
Prideaux-5 actually had some nice saving tackles.
    Boswell-5 not his best game.
Wilson-5.5 he is solid, but his runs forward werent as good as usual.
Kovalenko-5 worked hard but was not efficient.
    Simms-6 kid doesnt make mistakes.
Carroll-4.5 not bad until...."here you go Sasha."
Gomez-5.5 not his best but still good, needs to shoot.
    Gros-5. see Kovalenko
Adu-7 first time seeing him in person, wow, he was awsome, should have scored though.
Walker-5 he was ok, but we def. missed moreno.

Kuffour-5 he had some nice moves but is a little too raw still.
    Nickell-n/a.
    Stokes-n/a.

    After a run of "7"s, a 3.5. Huh?

I can think of two, and possibly three, shots in that game that half the keepers in this league wouldn't have stopped, but Rimando did.

Please tell us which ones. Again you people are totally fooled by his acrobatics, Nicky makes easy saves look hard. Did you happen to watch any of the other MLS games Saturday night or this year. Yes, there are great saves made, but most keeper saves are just everyday saves, but when a keeper has to dive, flop and leap at every save, you people think he's done something special and HE HASN'T. Nicky is a decent keeper but far from being a 7, I would rate him weekly at about a 5. (How many GA does he have this year?)

Rimando - 7.5 saved our bacon about a half-dozen times
    Prideaux - 6 solid match.
    Boswell - 6 A revelation.
Wilson - 5.5 belongs in MLS
Kovalenko - 4.5 ineffective, but no glaring mistakes.
    Simms - 4.5 did ok
Carroll - 5.0 overall good match. giveaway hurt, but a couple goals from our attackers would have put the gaffe in perspective
Gomez - 4.5 definitely off a step tonight
Gros - nice defensive work, and a couple nice runs going forward
Adu - 7.0 dangerous. one touch away from changing the entire game
    Walker - 5

Kuffour - 5 took people on, but came back too far for the ball
    Nickell NR
    Stokes NR

Regardless of how he looks, he keeps the ball out of the net. Last I checked that was his job description. You can't fault him for the goal, and I thought he was good about getting the offense started on several occasions. A long kick to a wide open Gros on the wing and the quick outlet to Gomez that started the 4 on 2 that Carroll screwed up.

But the point here is that even if you don't like his play, 3.5 is really low for his performance. I really liked his play, and rated him a 7, but I also think you'd be fair in giving him a 5.

Although I think Nicky had a decent game on Saturday, I have to agree 100% with this comment.

Our best keeper was Scott Garlick, whose excellent positioning made most of his saves look routine.

I want a boring keeper who doesn't enter into our discussion of the game. I do not want the second coming of Campos.

He doesn't have to "dive, flop, and leap" for *every* save. And when he did on Saturday, pretty much any keeper would have done the same.

At any rate, the quality stops I remember from Saturday are the one on Jewsbury, where anyone including Brad Friedel would have had to pretty much go full stretch. He also got down well on a couple grass-burners while he appeared to be heavily screened. He also got off his line well to foil a KC player who had broken through the right side of our defense and was in alone had NIck not met him at the point of breakthrough.

I am amazed a couple of those didn't go in, putting us in a 2 or 3-0 hole.

When I'm not at work and can play back the game or the highlights (if they're in there), and you can put away the condescending retorts, I'll do that.

Or maybe I won't. Jesus Christ.

Really, 19 goals in 15 games and 6 years experience. He still does stupid stuff and lets in easy goals and sometimes saves the harder ones.

This thread is not about Nick Rimando, it's about grading the team's performance against KC.

Your arguments about Nick are valid. And your asessment of Nick's performance was also valid. The issue came up because somebody rated him a 3.5. It's not like he booted in two goals and took a nap on a third. So some people wonder why.

If you'd like to hash out the pros and cons of Rimando, we can start another thread.

Way too many unexceptional no-shows. It was disappointing that players who should have been taking advantage of others' absences to make an impression showed so little fire and enthusiasm.
