I don't like the new shield... The eagle looks fat on top and ridiculous on the bottom. The shield is so hidden as to be irrelevant. It may reduce my normal 2 apparel purchases a year to zero... I just don't like it.

They really need to stop trying to explain & justify this thing. Just go sit down somewhere, shut up, and it'll be alright.

Finally we find out what's been consuming our FO's efforts as the technical direction of the team stalls, the regional marketing efforts collapse, every opportunity to uphold this club's fans and traditions are botched, the academy disintegrates, foreign scouting networks evaporate, stadium designs scaled back and competent FO employees are replaced by unpaid interns.

But we have a different shield so it's all better now

I hate to admit it, but when I saw the silhouette above, my first reaction was "It looks like a buffalo head"...

...and then I thought, "Oregon Trail?"

By the way, what exactly is the club moving forward from?

Their past, of course - they want to suppress it as much as possible. :whistling:

Which is more disappointing - this "refresh" or the downgrades they keep making to their stadium plans? Each time they release a new rendering they've taken something away. Good odds the next one will have bleachers.

Its weird they did this while they are still in RFK another 2 years. Seems to me this would have made more sense to do as a reboot of the franchise prior to going into the new stadium.

Gotta say this is a massive downgrade, it's just bad. I know the Quakes did an awful rebrand, but this is far far worse.

Interesting. My wife thought the silhouette looked like an arrow head.

Starting from the bottom to the first wing, it looks like a spade or a wine glass. Which is appropriate for a drunken gamble.

I would think being a Rapids fan is a real drunken gamble. But perhaps it's no gamble to anticipate improvement when your team racked up 37 points in 34 games and finished last in a ten team division.

I think it looks great. Makes no sense at all to be changing this offseason, but again, looks great.

I just moved to Denver this year. That team used to be set on New Orleans ShellShockers.

Looks alright to me. I don't understand the point of changing it in the first place, but if you're going to mess with a good thing, at least don't do too much damage. And it doesn't seem as if they did.

If that were somehow the Revolution's new logo, everyone here would love it, I'm guessing.

My reaction was the opposite. I like the old crest, but if you're going to change it, then change it. Do what Columbus did and reinvent it. This seems kind of pointless... and silly in the context of the claims they are making for it.

Well Columbus had a horrific logo previously. It had amazing comedy value, but as a soccer club crest it was terrible. And obviously the new one is a huge upgrade (how could it not be?), but it's still not that great. It's far too busy and looks like they crammed as many elements as they could into it in order to look "European." But again, when you have a crest as horrid as the original Crew logo, you have to completely reinvent it.

I'm basically a neutral observer with regard to MLS, and to me this new DC logo looks okay. Not my team, but I wouldn't be embarrassed to wear gear with that crest.
