i am amazed when i get onto Big Soccer and see that approx. 10k people have under team... DC United listed.... why dont some of you guys come up to the games more often... the boys could sure use some support next season.... oh yeah and sit in the Northside. behind the goal... good times.
NOTE: This is my "first" reply! I know this post couldn't be directed at me, I have DC United listed as "my" team.........we, (my husband and I) don't miss very many games...as a matter of fact, I don't think we missed any games (home games) this season....on a larger note!......we got married Wednesday, August 15, 2001 at 4:30 p.m......DC United had a game that night...DC United vs. MetroSssssomething or other... (look it up!)....we were both there that night as well!! Some say that my husband is a "very lucky man" because he has such an understanding woman.... Some say I only went along with going to the game on my wedding night because "you are an overly submissive person!" I say!!..... Until you've "TRULY" experienced the feeling of rooting for a team, WIN or LOSE, (hoping for a win), and having the ability to walk away when my team lost, with a smile on my face and the feeling in my heart that even though my team may not have played the best game of their lives at this given point in time, they did give me the opportunity to share with, meet, and enjoy life with my fellow DC United Fan's!!! So, think what you will, say what you must....but until you have experienced what I have, let me say this....I am the LUCKIEST of them all!!! GO DC UNITED, and GO DC UNITED SUPPORTERS!!!!! [End of Rant!]
I would suggest joining the Barra Brava! --We have security guards that abuse us, physically assault members, and spit on you!!! Hurray! (oh yeah we DO have free tailgates... where i might stay. If Zach doesnt fix CSC once and for all.)
You're not Mrs. Dave Brother, are you? He was at a United game a few hours after he got married, too.
Because some of us aren't local, I'm a couple hours away, a ton of guys live in NC, CA, NJ, VT, PA and Skip lives somewhere out in the Pacific Northwest with the Unibomber and Bigfoot. This club has national appeal, not just regional like other clubs, and surprisingly many of the national fans aren't bandwagon fans, they have been at RFK since the first game. I understand your frustration that we have so many fanatics, yet only average 16k attendance - but we could be the Wizzers and have fewer fans than a WalMart. The bandwagon jumpers will come back when we win. In the mean time averaging 16k for a last place team isn't that bad.
Re: Re: DC Supporters groups and MA! Surely the Unibomber is in the beautiful confines of Atwater or Lompoc USPs? I hope Skip isn't there? It would explain why he doesn't get to many games...
### MODERATOR'S NOTE ### I got rid of eric d's trolling. It's now safe to post here again. eric d's posts and all the replies are here: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15814
i mean geez a few hours is nothing guys.. i flew to rome last summer to watch the Italian Cup.. uhhum... campione d'italia 2001!!! forza roma! anyway.. im not talking about all you guys who live in antarctica etc... i mean local people and by local i mean withen 3 hours.. i drive from richmond every home game... and back at the end.. come on now.
who here is in a supporters group... La Norte etc.. "Well... we need the money.. 'cause we spend it alot..." Patrick Ewing NBA Strike from years gone bye
what? you expect to get props for sending your own rich ass to rome to watch a top caliber team? ok? I've gone to a DC united game at least once a year in the last 7 years. I'm in college in Baltimore now and it's a little rough to take a whole weekend off for DC United especially since the game I went to was the crappy 3-0 loss to the Chicago Fire. I've been in the best games (MLS Cup win over Colorado in 97, season opening firecracker win over Metrostars) and the worst games (shootout loss to last place Revs a few years back and that crappy Chicago game). I'm sure everyone posting here has been to a DC United game. It's not that expensive but the team hasn't been the most exciting to watch now. Only talk if you've been to every game at RFK over the last seven years.
I'm in La Norte. If you are getting your 10k+ number from the stats in the MLS: Team Forum section, then you are a little mistaken. That means that there have been that many posts by people in this forum. For instance you could post 23 times in one day in here and it would count 23 times on the counter out there.
Im upset that you didnt notice the sarcastic tone when i said "geez guys come on" anyway i was kidding... but dont call me rich.. So Thamlin.... no im just guessing....
I've been to a few games, but it's tough when you live 100s of miles away and have a family and all. One day Carolina will get a team......and I will still support United ;-)
That sounds very familiar, right down to the end. It will be great only having to drive three or four hours each way to see DC play two to four times a year, instead of eight hours each way. I have been a fan from the start, through good and bad, and always will be. Even if the MetroTrolls dreams come true and we never win another championship (yeah, right!!!), which will still be three more than have ever won
Last time I traveled to RFK I did visit La Norte with my now 2 yr old. We sang and danced and beat the drum. Unfortunately, we only got to stay for about fifteen minutes because we were sitting with some other folks, friends and family. Now, whenever we watch the games on TV, my son stands in front of the TV beating on his drum and screaming, "DC UNITED!!!", and ocassionaly lets slip with a "Come on referee!!!" Gee, I wonder where he got that last habit ??? Don't worry, we will be back!
