Fellas - want to set up a get together for one of our early fixtures? A late Sunday morning kickoff, when plenty of bars would be open and happy to put our match on, would work well for me. So there's always: Sunday Sept. 14 11 a.m. ET Manchester Utd v Queens Park Rangers NBCSN I'm partial to The Queen Vic on H St NE for matches these days. Good food, good beer and nice TVs with sound for games. Easy parking on a Sunday, not too Metro friendly though. I'm open to different ideas in different areas - I'm flexible.
Sounds like a great idea. Count me in for sure. I would prefer a game where we are not going to get slaughtered.
I watched the play-off final at an Irish pub called Four Courts in Arlington, just over the road from Summers. I'd go there again. There were already a bunch of QPR fans there, which was great. It is easy to get to and, most importantly, parking wasn't a problem. How's parking at the Queen Vic. That seems a long way down town for a weekend day.
Piece of cake on H St in the morning/afternoon. Free metered spots on Sundays. I'd be fine with Four Courts for matches as well. And I know Atouk would like that close location.
If the parking is OK, then I am fine either way. I'm going to be driving so its all the same. Let's see if Atouk has a preference. Count me in either way.
I say we call it Queen Vic for ManUre and then discuss other matches moving forward. I have some guys in the city that will probably want to join us too.
So then it's -- Sunday, Sept 14 Man Utd - 11am kickoff The Queen Vic 1206 H Street NE, DC 20002 I'll shoot to get there 20 minutes or so before. They have a nice full English breakfast and a Sunday roast as well.
I posted this to a couple of other messageboard that I know have local fans. I hope we get a turnout.
See you then. I'll be there with my Dad, who is in from England, and my son. Three generations of QPR fans! Atouk, are you going to be joining us?
Despite the score, was bummed I couldn't make it. The little one has a virus and required a trip to the clinic this morning in Rockville. Wouldn't have been able to get down to H St in time. Roll on the winnable home matches, great to hear we had a nice crowd. Next time...
Sorry to hear about the kid. It was a nice pub, if a bit far. But they treated us well and the food was good. Lots of new faces to chat football with. A couple drive down from Baltimore after seeing it on the QPR Report message board. One bloke saw it on Twitter. Quite a few others in colors.
Funnily enough, I went to see a band in Baltimore (Stiff Little Fingers -- an Irish punk band) this week and bumped into the couple from Baltimore (Mark and Trina). I wouldn't of known who they were except that we met at the pub on Sunday. Even weirder, I went to the concert with a friend from work and his girlfriend and it turned out that Trina was one of the girlfriend's best friends. Small bloody world, innit?!?
Should we try to get official recognition? http://www.qpr.co.uk/news/article/qpr-fans-international-supporters-clubs-2274240.aspx
Maybe. Not sure we'd exactly meet all of the requirements, but we could do so in 2015/16 if we wanted. I'd be happy to do a Twitter feed and/or Facebook page announcing meet-ups, etc. Also, FYI, looks like $500 would get us 50 scarves. http://globalscarves.com/pricing/ Not sure if anyone else does smaller runs.
So anyone want to try to find a place open at 7:30am on Sept 12th for Forest? I know that Fado hosts the Everton Supporters Club -- and they play the Scum at 7:45. Maybe we could join forces with them and get our match on a side TV?
I mean, we have to celebrate this right? {still have my fingers crossed} 🔵⚪️🔵⚪️ #9 #QPR big season ahead— Charlie Austin (@chazaustin10) September 1, 2015
Anyone fancy a Bank Holiday Monday away from the office? Monday, May 2 Burnley v QPR 11:45am Most likely beIN Sports
