Agreed, Snyder was pushed out by the NFL owners not because of shit product on the field, but because of those scandals was negatively impacting the NFL's "image."
Nope - He survived those scandals because that's all they were - Scandals What got him kicked out was getting caught not reporting revenue completely enough to NLF/HQ. In other words, STEALING from the league and all the other owners.
This makes more sense. The NFL has an owner (he might be dead now) who was probably a john. Image ain't that important to them.
Tell that to the other MLS teams coming up when they already saw the Chicago effing Fire put seven past us.
Barajas loan ending shortly. DCU not exercising the option to keep him until the end of the season. Not surprising, given he stayed in Troy’s doghouse the entire season. To summarize DC’s news about attackers this week (coming off of a bye week, mind you): 1. Benteke remains out and is likely out at least a few more weeks. This is inferred by the team advertising him signing autographs after the July 5th home match. It’s certainly possible he can do that after playing a match, but doesn’t seem plausible, even for this clown show of an organization. 2. Kristian Fletcher tore his ACL. 3. The team declines Barajas’ loan extension. The team has exactly one game of any significance remaining on the calendar, July 9th vs Nashville in the Open Cup, and will likely not have any of the 3 players listed above. We’ve scored fewer goals than all but two teams in the league (Austin and Montreal) and only one team in the league has conceded more goals than us. Tradition.
DC United v Nashville SC When: 6/28/25 Time: 7:30 EDT Where: Audi Field Washington DC SW TV Radio: MLS SeasonPass on Apple TV- 1190 iHeart Sports DC, 101.1 HD2 last time I didn't post this information pregame DC United lost 7-1
funny, I had just been wondering where and when United was playing this weekend - thank you. They are very bad at publicizing this information themselves.
Maybe it’s just part of the DCU decline (and the fact that I don’t watch local TV or listen to local radio) but it feels like since Apple came around that the team just expects everything to be taken care of by them. The exception to this is email marketing which I think DCU does a reasonable job with, but as a season ticket holder that’s the bare minimum to me.
Benteke is listed as "questionable" for tomorrow, as is Peglow. That's pretty good news for our non-friendly in Nashville next month. The only DC starter listed as out for tomorrow is Herrera for Gold Cup. Nashville are missing Walker Zimmerman and Jacob Shaffelburg to Gold Cup and Tyler Boyd to a knee injury. They just played in the Wednesday night heat and they'll have to rotate some starters. Not saying I like our chances, but I like them better with Nashville on three-day's rest and missing Zimmerman.
Let’s stipulate that DC isn’t making the playoffs. What would you like to see the team do the rest of the way? Me, I couldn’t really think of anything. There isn’t a player except maybe Hopkins that is still developing and could at least be a top 16 player for a good-not-great MLS team. Maybe Tubbs, but at his age he’s very, very close to WYSIWYG territory. Being bad is one thing. Being bad, and hopeless, and directionless, that’s why we have euthanasia.
I'm on record as placing the blame for this mess on the owners and Mackay. That said, they need to fire the coach ASAP. We aren't making the playoffs, Troy won't be back next season, so it's best to see some of these players in a different formation with different coaches. Some of the St. Louis players (Klaus) do look different under the interim coach there. And Kansas City have really opened it up since Vermes left. Neither of those teams will make the playoffs, but they'll be better positioned to evaluate their rosters in the off season. For the time being, I'd start Murrell over Badji and keep giving Pirani as much time as possible. Trading Benteke is probably the single most sensible thing we can do. We have no talent in the pipeline and need to start plucking some kids from the other teams. That may be the best way to do it. I have no faith Mackay can find them on his own.
There is a growing consensus that part of the problems here are Levien's jock sniffing infatuation with "name players" to give the gate a quick sugar high type of boost. At the start of preseason, Mackay was firm in the 2DP/4U22 model (which also gains you GAM). That was changed to 3DP/3U22 later on and coupled with the sale of TKDP to Colorado for $1M GAM. The surmise is that all of this was about Pogba because Levien "wanted" Pogba (or his equivalent), so Mackay was stuck with the 3DP model and sold TKDP to game additional GAM that would have come automatically with the 2DP/4U22 model. Between Levien and Saputo, DCU fans have one of the two worst owner operators in MLS and it isn't even close.
Two weeks off, playing at home in the heat, United’s roster health overall improving, Nashville traveling after playing midweek and missing more players to Gold Cup than we are…. If nothing else, assuming we don’t pull the upset, I’m excited to see what the new batch of excuses are from the Troy holdouts postgame.
Benteke is on the bench for tonight, along with Peglow and Kim. Peltola is back from international duty, too. The lineup is about what you'd expect otherwise.
The team just gave the ball away 7 times in a row within 2 passes during 5v5+1. Turn on the bananas now while you still can.
There was a fish dropoff a few minutes ago. Will it be the highlight of the night? Depends on how you feel about watching Andy Najar dominate us.
I’m not kidding when I say this is the worst warmup I’ve ever seen from a professional side. Stroud just missed the frame entirely twice in a row - once from 12 yards, the next from 6.5. And yet, he starts. 0 goals, 0 assists as we approach the 4th of July.
