Technically a good point on the road. Our inability to play anything that remotely looks like soccer remains concerning. Not entirely sure why I keep watching this team.
At about 27 minutes, right after the Barranquitas giveaway that led to a grade A chance, I decided I had better things to do with my time than watch that whole damn match. Up to that point, I thought Hopkins did some nice things. it was 10:28pm. (I start watching matches about an hour in, skip 10 seconds on fouls and halftime.). So I started it back up and I had the option to catch up. That’s where they show you the highlights so you can get a sense of game flow. There were just 3 friggin highlights. Usually at the end of a match there will be 7-8. This borefest had 3.
I'm not so sure. He was alone, no support, Big Joe Willis cut down the angle fairly well and there were two Nashville defenders in the box if Murrell tried to take a touch towards the penalty spot. In the 92nd or so minute of a match where Murrell had been running around with little support, I think a goal from him would have been extraordinary. Look at Mukhtar, someone with skill and experience, all of his set piece shots on goal were plain vanilla saves for Barrazza. For Murrell to score there, he would have had to put the ball on the ground with serious spin to run back to goal after rounding Willis. Not impossible, but very hard in the best of situations.
without Benteke we will struggle - previous years we easily would have folded, or foolishly tried to aggressively and then gotten burned - instead they played cautiously (and boringly) and got a tie on the road - this is what clubs do with weakened line-ups as ours is
I do like that Lessene and his staff are willing to change. Just like they have abandoned the incessant pressing they were doing earlier.
We really have 8 shots on target over the last 3 games combined, and 5 of those were in the 2nd half against Toronto.
The defense in the second half was heroic. Apple gave Barraza the MOTM award but honestly he didn't have all that much to do. The real MOTM is the video editor in New York who found seven minutes of highlights out of that game.
Shawn12011 is laughing that he was right about Olson all along and now they'll have to acknowledge it.
Olsen did suck, other coaches are better. Olsen is a better coach now. Lesense is a good coach that had some success with better teams. We are not a better team.
