Man this team is awful. Pirani is my anti-man of the match - always the wrong pass or run. Peltola also looked lost a lot. No defense. SJ shows how important it is to have a real, experienced coach who isn’t learning on the job and a GM with a clue and money to spend.

    So bad

Doesn’t piss me off. He’s a much better coach than we’ve had in an age. Our owners are garbage - even relative to SJ.

They should have to take Greyhound back to DC and dump Pirani in Pigs Knuckle Arkansas.

I like Troy. I think he is a good coach. That said, he needs to be fired before they get back to the hotel. You are stuck with this team until the summer. The team isn’t doing what the coach wants.

it would send a message that someone is accountable. If I were Troy I would step down if the team doesn’t fire me.

Hello optimists such as @morrissey, are you still defending the smoldering dumpster of a team?

So, today in order - watched tape of the Japanese Grand Processional - er Grand Prix; got to see Ovi break the record; had a nice dinner and my son looked at his phone and said guess the score. I said 2-0, he shook his head. 3-0? He nodded. Stock market futures opened this evening and Cheetolini's run through my retirement accounts has the Russell down over 5% already. I've now lost virtually all gains since the end of Covid -- thanks ****************. I then turned on the match. I'm going for a short walk off the Wilson Bridge. See ya.

We can complain about ownership until we turn blue. This team isn’t getting a new owner that’s going to solve the problems. It isn’t going to happen. They have a new GM (sorta)- he is sticking around. So Troy has to be the scapegoat.

There’s not a snowball’s chance in hell that Curtin touches this job. SKC would probably be a much better fit for him.

Anyone can see this team is going nowhere, now it’s just a waiting game for the inevitable change of staff. This game might be bad enough to do it but I doubt it, they’ll delay until it’s too late for this season.

The question is where is Dave Kasper and what is he doing? He (allegedly) doesn't have any part in DC United, but is still on the payroll. And since he has not (allegedly) been a part of management, we've still gone dumpster diving for our squad.

SJ 6-1 DC? The game wasn't that close.

    LEVIEN, SELL THE FVCKING TEAM!

Selling the team now would be a loss. He isn’t going to do that.

It's worth more now than when he purchased it. But you're right - he's not yet finished with real estate development, so he'll keep it until that well runs dry.

What a joke of a franchise. Levien is a piece of S and has destroyed this team from top to bottom. Who would pay to watch this garbage? I hope the stadium is empty until he leaves.

    This.

We did not replace Taxi. We all wanted a DP level second striker or 10, but we did not sign one.

Klich now plays for another team, and we did not replace him with a player of similar or better caliber.

With Benteke's ability, it would have been nice to sign a player with above average crossing ability but we did not do that either.

    This roster has not improved.

This team still has zero players that can beat a man off the dribble. We have zero players with above average passing vision/ability. We have zero players with the ability to create their own scoring opportunities. We have players with average crossing ability at best. Outside of Benteke, I don't even see players with a hunger to score goals. We are not a particularly athletic/physical team. We don't have speed to effectively play bunker and counter ball. We are not a wise team with high soccer IQ. We are not good, and we don't have many strengths outside of Benteke.

I would consider Troy to be a coaching genius, if he can turn this into a winning team.

Yes. He should quit if the FO has not expressed a clear plan to invest in 1-2 DP level players and a few other players upgrading the starting line up in the next transfer window.

Question: Does the team sell Benteke during the summer, or wait till the end of the season?
I saw posts earlier about a possible big signing the next window, but what elite player would want to come pay with this collection of donkeys? My fear is we'd sign a washed-up player looking for a bag of money, goes through the motions, then leaves end of year. I dread another Gallardo.
Best likely case is we'd squeak into the playoffs, then get eliminated right away. Who wants that?
This season is lost. Start the tear-down now. If that means firing the coach, i can accept that. Benteke is the only value asset we have. He won't be around for when (if?) the team gets good.

That's the think that has surprised me ever since the end of last season. Why isn't some team out there that needs that one Benteke-type piece knocking on DC United's door and offering something? We need a ton and he's worth a lot. It doesn't make any sense to NOT make a deal.

DC United's Rafael Romo had the worst save percentage in the entire history of MLS with 59.8%. Kim Joon-Hong is currently averaging 52.0%.

I'm willing to be patient with Kim, as he's still raw. But even if he's not the answer, it doesn't matter. This team has so many holes, i'd prioritize defenders and forwards. This season should now be about building for next year.
