Damn. Honestly why can't he go to some team I don't give a ************ about, like Colorado? It's gonna be tough to hate Stewart, but maybe we'll send Mad Dog after him and Stewart will retaliate and make it easier.

Ok looks like that link isn't working, so for other lazy people that don't want to copy and paste, here's this:

    http://www.planetfootball.com/article.asp?id=127653&cpid=218&title=DC+win+Stewart+battle"/>

At the end of the article is says, "The US top flight has been looking to 'bring home' a number of the US national team players who have been plying their trade in Europe, with Frankie Hejduk set to sign for Columbus..."

Is this more wild rumor, or is this substantial?

It seemed very substantial up until today. Apparently some undefined "problem" has arisen, and the deal which was beginning to look like a sure thing a few days ago may be getting shaky.

What? Where did you hear this, and what was the problem, if you know? This is not what I like to hear. How often does it seem we get close to a deal and something breaks down?

    Chris Bergin on ussocceruk.

I know some people bitch about him, but he's on a real hot streak the past couple of months.

Maybe his intentions weren't to come back to play for Columbus.

Is there a reason why you, a DC fan, felt compelled to post that on our boards? Hello, if you had a clue, it's been essentially official for about 2 days now. This is old news... look at the title of our thread, and look when it was started. You're a little late on this one champ. Guess you've heard that a lot of late, and expect to hear it some more this year as well. Ray can try as he might, but he's still gonna be looking up from the bottom of the ladder.

    Great.

Ya know, I never really wanted to "hate" Earnie Stewart ... but since he is going to play for the DC Filth ..... :( ..... he's scum now.

    Andy, don't be a playa-hater :)

You should at least wait until he really hacks one of our guys before you hate him. It will show his true conversion into a Filth player when it happens. Can't wait for the DC Hack-Attack to come to town. The most ironic thing is how Hudson whines about how physical we are. Obviously when he watches videos, he's not watching his own players.

To be honest, I misread Bill Archer's comment and thought that he posted that the Stewart deal was the one that was "shaky" so just wanted to inform that it was done. Although the thread is titled to be about Stewart, on re-reading, I see that the substantial vs. shaky question was about Hejduk. If I'd have read it that way to start with, I wouldn't have posted.

Ok. No big deal. Just be careful about apologizing on these boards ...it's a sign of weakness. ;)

    Consider yourself warned! No MAS!
