I really not sure that he shouldn't be a starter in our next qualifiers. He plays so mature to his age, play in a good European team and it's not like that our regular CB's are irreplaceable. Yerri Mina from Palmeiras also should be taken in consider, but Davinson is pure crack, the dutch fans are already in love with him. I saw on their forum that someone wrote Ajax's best signings ever: 3. Zlatan 2. Suarez 1. Davinson LOL .
I have confidence that we will be in Russia. At worst 5th place against New Zealand or Tahiti or Fiji. (But that is another discussion for another thread.)
After reading what Pepino just posted about Jeison Murillo's injury I think this must be emphasized even more. Sanchez and Oscar Murillo would be a good pairing.
Who would have thought that the Sub23 playoff pairing of Mina-Sanchez would have a good chance at being our starting CB duo in 2018???? And if not 2016, odds on favorites for CBs in 2019 Copa America Brazil.
Dude you can't judge our youth team or players until Picis is fired. He failed at home with ducking James, Quintero, Murillo and Arias on that squad.
I almost want to see what he and Mina can do together. However starting two young kids like them against the likes of Chile and Argentina would be s bit risky. Maybe next March against Bolivia would be the perfect match.
Agree. Even though Mina proved himself wonderful in his debut, I do think that we can even try them vs. Bolivia or Venezuela, but vs. Chile and Argentina I want to see Mina & Oscar Murillo. But no doubt that both of them are growing to be two monsters like Cordoba & Yepes when we had the best defense in South America.
I think you guys are greatly over rating Oscar Murillo. Currently better then Jesid because of form. Sanchez is a total beast tho. I do agree you can't debut a 2 year old against the two best teams in South America. That is what friendlies are for.
The only strategic advantage I could see starting both Mina and Sanchez is their height advantage and they both know what to do when the ball goes to their heads. But I would still be concerned with the the lack of cohesion between the two and the way they would have to mark fast, skillful players on both those teams.
Oscar Murillo is a great CB and the reason I prefer him is because he's already got "rubbed" in these qualifiers and performs well so far. It doesn't mean that Sanchez is less good because he is not, but it's not simple to throw him already against Argentina and Chile. Remember Medina's debut in Montevideo... It can kill the player's confidence. We have many games to be played for Davinson to play.
I think Sanchez should debut in another match, too. However--playing devil's advocate--didn't Mina and Oscar Murillo debut in the exact same conditions? Of course, we shouldn't forget Medina and Felipe Aguilar's debuts either...
Aguilars debut was also because Zapata let everything his way into the back of the net. Aguilar is awesome for Nacional now. Sanchez and Mina are too green to command the defense. Especially against Chile and Argentina but I see them being the starters come WC time.
can't exactly compare Davinson to Medina or Aguilar though. Very different circumstances. I'm really excited to see him debut eventually. For now, i'd rather just play it safe.
