From DCUnited.com, looks like we're giving a look-see to David Topolski...anyone know who he is?? "Joining United for training today was David Topolski. The 18-year-old Polish forward/midfielder will remain with the club for Tuesday's and Wednesday's trainings, but will not see action on Thursday night" PS I'm guessing this link is about him but my Polish is limited to "kielbasa" and I'm not even sure I spelled that correctly. http://poznan.naszemiasto.pl/Sport/
Looks like he's just filling out the numbers for training. I don't see a European youth international coming to MLS. He can get more exposure in his home country to make the jump to a bigger club.
The Poland U-18 won the Euro Championship in 2001, with Topolski playing as a striker. This year are the qualifiers for the Euro U-21 Championship and Topolski is not on the team (at least not yet). Poland has won its first two games. The training they're talking about is taking place in England, right? Might be that he was there for tryouts with some English clubs and DCU decided to give him a look. I don't think much will come from this.
I know Ray has scouted Polish players before, and even gave one a trial. My bet is that Ray is looking at him. He'd be a Junior/Transitional International (whichever category MLS retained, can't remember) rather than an SI. If he can score he's got a chance. Is he a target forward? -Tron
maybe we're trying him out for somebody else. like maybe tottenham want to watch him. or... i don't know. doesn't make much sense unless we're taking a look at him.
Does DC have a big Polish community?? Think of the crowds this guy could help us draw. I say sign him today!!!
It said in the Washington Post yesterday that the Washington Capitals signed a very good African American player for this season. Expect a follow up article in a couple weeks about the attendence spike they receive because of this genius move.
It didn't offend me. It's just that the article didn't mention his color at all. I was about to go into what a great move it was getting him to replace Dahlen...
Polish 4th division??? lets hope he was like Landon or Taylor in the German 4th Division not getting a chance because of his age...or else I'm not sure the Polish 4th division stacks up very favorably to MLS. If it does that's pretty sad.
Move information. He is a midfielder and plays on the Polish U19 team. In the U19 European Championships in Group 2, in 3 games he started in 1 match, and scored 1 goal against Croatia.
While the 4th division doesn't sound to promising, it might be that he's physically weak. Many 18 year olds don't have the size and strength to compete in physical leagues, and the Polish leagues tend to be very physical. If he plays internationally and is finding the back of the net, he's worth a look, who knows. -Tron
well he prob could be an a tryout but if Europe wants him seriusly where would he choose but idk if he joins dc il turn into likeking them
