https://twitter.com/JeffreyCarlisle/status/397768288669032448 i like it, hopefully it turns into something more.
He had some kind of flirtation with a move to Italy out of high school. https://www.bigsoccer.com/community/threads/yank-keeper-off-to-serie-a.628216/#post-13349833 Also apparently some trials in Europe before signing in MLS. In any case, he's got four league starts in three seasons so it would make sense for him to test the waters wherever they may flow.
Care to expand on your comment? To your point, he doesn't really have the outgoing personalities of the Quakes GKs (Cannon, Onstad, Busch). He should be testing the waters. Either he finds a good opportunity or puts some pressure on the Quakes to sign him...
Buschy will likely get re-upped, he showed no signs of letting up. That was bingham's last year, hes probably gonna walk. Its not the first time someones noted about his supposed attitude, maybe theres something to it.
Has gone back abroad on loan through November to Strommen IF of the Norwegian First Division http://www.centerlinesoccer.com/201...er-david-bingham-loaned-to-strommen-if-norway
Here is what I don't understand. How is Strommen IF better than signing with a USL Pro team? The quality of play isn't better. Is it the money or the desire to play in Europe?
Being benched when Saunders was brought in, Quakes didnt see the point of a loan if he was just gonna sit bench, so he gets to start here.........we hope
really?? The minimum salary in the Norwegian second division is $65,000 a year. That is the minimum. In the USL Pro he'd be lucky to make a half that, assuming he was getting a max contract.
San Jose Earthquakes goalkeeper David Bingham loaned to Norwegian club Strømmen http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...e-earthquakes-david-bingham-headed-loan-again Wanted to thank all the @SAScorpions fans for their support this year. On to the next adventure in Norway! @naslofficial @Crocketteers— David Bingham (@BinghamDb) August 12, 2014
HA! its gonna be tough giving Busch the punt, hes taken great care of himself, hes still on top notch form, and if 10 years younger we would be talking him up as a USMNT prospect. But.......nature of the business. But knowing the quakes......who knows, they may extend Busch yet, and that would be all but curtains for Bingham in San Jose.
Bingham has started four straight games for Strommen, including a 2-2 draw today. In total, he's let in eight goals, which isn't so hot, but it's obviously good experience.
For comparison's sake -- Bingham might have been loaned to D3 Sacramento, which instead roughly split its games between veteran Dominik Jakubek, who posted a 1.27 this year, and Portland loanee Jake Gleeson, whose line was a bit better. (Probably taking two MLS GKs on loan wouldn't have made sense, however.) Might an experience like this have been better for him? Hard to say, I suppose.
http://www.strommen-if.no/ The lead on Strommen's site is a teaser for a Bingham interview, so he must be doing pretty well there. Then again, the interview isn't found, so not that well.
Bingham just wrapped up his loan, starting his team's final 9 games. On the last day of the season, they played spoiler, winning away from home against an opponent that needed a result to reach the promotion playoffs.
He's back with SJ for preseason: http://www.uslsoccer.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=32800&ATCLID=209901461
