It's actually for a third round SUPPLEMENTAL pick, aka absolutely nothing. What a steal, especially if he gets a green card.

Did he get on the field or play much for KC?

Consistent starter since he became eligible in late July. KC fans are confused why we got so little for him since he seemed to really started to play well by September.

That's strange then a starter for pretty much a throw away pick.

I'm wondering if it was a "let me go to NEW YORK or i'll be back in Holland".

WTF? I saw a few games of KC last season, to mainly watch him, not a bad player. Wonder if the prospect of playing in a high school team is what sealed the deal?

Merlin over on the Wizards board says that VdB did not request a trade, and he's usually on top of things.

Wow, that definitely makes this harder to understand.

Unless of course KC is going to sign someone who is even better?

It really does have us befuddled, but Onalfo and Vermes have been in South America lately so perhaps they have discovered a player or two.

Yeah, that coupled with the above reports that he didn't ask out seem very, very strange.

He was solid for us the last half of the season. I believe he had 3 goals and a handful of assist. Definately has the potential to be a star player in this league.

He was taking up an SI spot on the roster so chances are they are going to be obtaining another SI player and that lead to this move. But, that is only my speculation.

it's puzzling - i thought the point of him coming to kc was to be closer to where his wife lived, and this trade defeats that purpose now -- plus the draft pick is worth little to nothing --- not that impressed with kansas city's personnel moves thus far (not that other teams have done that much)...

It's a salary and SI spot dump. Simple as that. Everybody likes Dave as a person, and he has a unique skill set as a player...a skill set that didn't fit into Vermes and/or Onalfo's plans. Look, he's *really* slow. One of the two or three best crossers of the ball in the league, but painfully slow.
