My son and I had a blast at Dave and Busters yesterday. It was a shame that there weren't more fans there, particularly ones with kids. Most of the advertised Rapids were there, and we had a lot of fun playing video games, talking, and shooting baskets. As good a soccer player as Steve Herdsman is, he could have been somebody's three point shooter. As community relations go, it was excellent. I know that the weather was bad, but it was a shame more weren't there. It was cool to sit down and talk to a player one on one, an opportunity that we probably never would get with our other professional teams. By the way, Gilles was at practice yesterday, so who knows. Maybe we are making way too much of this!!

He was? News to me. I was there from the time they warmed up at 12:30 until the time they headed back indoors after 2:00 and didn't see him once.

    Gilles

I wasn't at practice yesterday, but at Dave and Buster's last night, I asked Steve Herdsman about Gilles, and though Steve said he was out of the loop, he said that Gilles was there yesterday. Now maybe that meant that he was just there inside and maybe didn't practice, but Steven said he definitely saw him yesterday. He said that there was no insider info he was aware of about Gilles being gone. He did say that Gilles has been injured almost all the time he has been here. Whatever the case, I would certainly agree with you that if they considered him to be a integral part of the team, I would have expected him to play more often unless he was truly injured. Whatever the case, I sure wouldn't expect to see him starting on Saturday.

As you may have read by now, yes he has been "training" albeit simply indoors and with exercise equipment.

Glad to hear that the D&B thing was a good time, and that players were open to chatting about a variety of things.

Yes, after reading Rapidsfan, I see that what I surmised was reality, that he was there but not practicing. What is the situation in regards to the league, will we be recompensed in some way, since the Rapids realize he is not going to be there, have they been courting someone else?
By the way, it was really fun to sit down with guys at Dave and Busters and just talk. When my son and I go to the matches, we will see the players in a different and more human light than we would have otherwise.

Speaking of out of the loop, I never heard anything about the D&B's appearance. Too bad because I live right down the street.
Any estimates on how many people actually showed up?
I'd hate for them to cut back on appearances because people aren't showing.

    Rapidfire!

That's how I knew. If I could remember exactly how to sign up I'd post it. I'm sure someone will.
